Just because I state an opinion on something doesn’t mean I owe anyone an explanation behind it. Especially not an overly proud self proclaimed “contrarian”.

Have you read the GBD? What about my posting history makes you think I’d be all for a plan that basically says “let the weak hide or get sick, everyone else has stuff to do”?
Do you really need me to go into it any further?
When did I proudly proclaim to being a contrarian? ?

Yeah, I’ve read the GBD and it makes imminent sense to anyone familiar with public health and untainted by millennial notions of “Equity,” where if one person is disadvantaged, everyone else should be as well. In your desire to be “Compassionate” you miss that we still need a functioning and healthy society. And to the extent your preferred policies did the opposite, it also harms the people you think you’re helping.

Eh. I disagree. “Health professionals” will change their minds countless times on what the best thing would have been. None of it really matters to me, nor do I think it will impact the actions taken next time a pandemic happens.

I did what I thought was best to keep my family safe, and guess what, it worked. I’m happy about that and can’t say I wish I did anything differently.

Why do you believe this? Many health pro's were sounding alarm bells early on, signing the GBD precisely because all prior accepted best practices, understanding and knowledge had been abandoned. You're getting a limited picture if you think that Fauci and other talking heads on TV are representative. And to the extent that more health pro's didn't complain, it's obvious that they didn't want to be targeted, fired, smeared, sanctioned, etc., exactly the way the 3 GBD authors were.

I don't believe in public health.
I agree. Even if it everything Fauci et. al said about spread, masks, vaccines, etc. was true, what we as a country decide to do about it should have been a political question and restricted according to our constitutionally protected civil liberties. As much as some people hate our country, it was founded on certain ideals and principles, and there is no "Pandemic exception" to the Bill of Rights.

Notice how lots of controversial political issues these days are becoming "Public health" issues? Guns, transexualism, "Racism", climate change, business regulation, and the list goes on. To @Aynirar27 credit, it's true that almost anything can be construed as a public health concern, but that doesn't mean we can just skip the political process to enact whatever grab bag of progressive goals these disingenuous assholes would like to see implemented.

I can’t say I’ve ever listened to a single thing Fauci has said, at least not knowingly.
There is no “consensus” among the health community, nor will they ever be.

Okay, but I’m still wondering why you believe it.

because there is no consensus on the “correct” way to have handled it. There never will be. Nothing will ever be beneficial to everyone in the country. Simple as that dude. I’m not going down this stupid rabbit hole with you tonight.
I told you what my idea of “success” was, my family. That’s all there is to it.

You’re still avoiding my question (Lack of consensus isn’t an answer) but that’s okay. Happy Friday. I’m in for the evening with a head cold ☹️

What's the point. I'm not feeling well. Oh look, I've got covid and feel so much better now!

I don't believe in covid tests.
Well for me, it’s part of the reason I just gloss over most “Covid studies”. For every person with pre existing conditions that died “with covid” there are just as many positive cases never reported or even tested for.

We have no idea what the actual numbers are, and I don’t believe conclusive findings can be found in inconclusive data

Geez dude is that by choice?
It is now. The entire staff used to test every week. When that stopped we were left with thousands of leftover tests (and a machine to perform the tests).

So it’s part of my Monday routine. I have young kids, old parents and my wife works in other people’s homes. I prefer to know what we may or may not have.

Sounds a little too much like boy in the bubble stuff to me. Dystopia. Weekly testing. No doubt you'll have excellent social credit one day. They might even let you eat real meat.

It’s by choice and takes very little time.
