Automatic double tracking on Neural DSP Nolly plugin

I really like ADT, I just wish there was a way it could be done live without the signal being nulled or made mono every now and then. In particular, the way Dimebag and Petrucci used it intrigues me.

This was done using the Neural plugins, but I believe the Axe FXIII has it as well, so that's something I plan on tinkering with.

This is a track that I played a single guitar on and then used the Nolly plugin for ADT:

I've only had the built-in CrapMac™ speaker on my cheese grater to go on for 14 years now so I'm guessing I hear this differently from you Brother AJ.

'Cause it's mono (I'm guessing this is why), I'm getting a helluva-lot of past cancellation on this end.

Just a heads-up.

Hey, I saw a recent post from you listing some nice studio gear, Nicky. You've been holding out on me!

Whaddaya mean bro'?

I've had some great gear in the past but these days I only have remnants left. My newest ROMpler is the I-7 from, I'm guessing, 15 years ago and the XS Rack from around the same period, the latter of which I recommended for you, as you well remember. I still rate it even after all these years. Yamaha nails the tone and character of real-world instruments so-well.

Other than that the Kemper's easily my most-valuable (to me) piece of kit. Saves so much moola on amps when you're on a budget.

In your signature, man. That's some good gear.

I want to get a new Motif XS rack, but it doesn't do MPE, which makes it hard to use with midi pickups. However, I'd love to try it with the Misa Quadwave I acquired.

D'Oh!

Yeah, none of the audio or MIDI interfaces will work when I get the new 'puter. Been saving for 14 years but will still have to downgrade to a simple, single audio interface and I'll hold off on MIDI 'til I can determine whether or not I need the outboard synths. I'll try ITB production first and see how that goes.

When I think of the gear I have I don't even consider the now-obsolete stuff. If I ran PC and not Mac, the audio and MIDI interfaces would work, but alas, not with the new Macs and in fact not with anything since the trash can (2013?) 'cause the audio stuff requires PCI and the MIDI interfaces' onboard ROMs are "outdated".

You could use Multi mode, a patch in each of the first 6 (or however many strings you're using) channels.

As a bonus you'd be able to use different sounds for each string in any config you like.

EDIT:
Not sure how you'd get that to work without knowing the ins and outs of the MIDI pickup, but if it channelises each string it should work plugged directly-in or through a MIDI interface.

Yeah, quite familiar with multis, since I used to run all channels simultaneously. I have a midi floorboard as well with enough buttons for an entire octave of notes, so that's another way to trigger. But check out the Quadwave, it doesn't have strings at all. Kind of like a Guitar Hero controller, but more sophisticated.

Yeah I've seen them. I've no need for a guitar controller 'cause I'm used to keys for that purpose.

Speaking of which, that's another "gotcha" that's part of my current dilemma. My 1980s Roland controller requires old-school MIDI connectivity. Without replacement ROMs for my interfaces, this too won't work 'cause the interfaces themselves won't work with the newer Macs. The audio interfaces I'm considering (MOTU units released in the last 2 years) don't have these DIN connectors so I either modify my MIDI interfaces or buy a new controller keyboard that has USB.
