Some video from our show last month at the House of Blues. I was using the AX8 direct but you can see my Axe-Fx in my rack with my Matrix on top of my cab. Audio is direct from the sound board.
Agree with everything you mentioned. I've played the Axe since 2013 but only for home use. Never used it for gigging. I could never get descent tones at gig volume. But like you mentioned Quantum changed that for me. And I usually run my setup like you mentioned. Although sometimes I'm to lazy to bring a cab and will bring my a FRFR to put behind me so I have that familiar sound and feel behind me.alainarose":3evdxd12 said:Great job. Love my Axe FX 2. Release of the Quantum Firmware changed everything. Best tones are had by combining real cabinets (without IRs) and FRFR cabinets (with IRs/mic sims) at once.
Gives great stage feel of having your real 412 behind you and a FRFR wedge running IR's in front of you. Blends the raw and studio polished tones together at once.

jk, it sounds awesome!![]()

Yes, I just use the 5153 100 watt blue channel amp block with a BBPre drive block for a slight boost. It's basically setup just like my tube amp rig which is a 5153 halfstack. I've set up the AX8 to sound basically identical to that.Rayneman":1z7t7lh5 said:Very impressive. Are you using one amp model for your tones?
Yes. The limitation is you can only use one amp at a time rather than two on the rack unit; but all the models are there. Are all the amps from the AxFx2 in the AX8? Cornford, Friedman, classic Fenders, etc?
