My only issue with the AX8 is switching from say hi gain to my clean sound or vise versa. There is a slight audio gap... about 1/8 of a second. Had to change my timing on a few songs to accommodate this. Not an issue with my Axe-Fx though since it has the capability to use 2 amp blocks in one preset so when I know I will be doing a lot of channel switching I use the Axe-Fx instead.

Didn't you find a solution for this slight gap?

Is the ax8 a good choice if you plan on using a power amp and a 4x12? It gets great marks so I am on the fence, should I try it with a power amp return or 4 cable method of a tube amp? I like as mentioned the sound behind me in a traditional air pushing box..is it possible to run both with ax8? Frfr and a 4x12? Seems it would not be practical as with frfr your using amp and cab Sims so I don't know...
Yes you can. In this video I'm going direct to FOH from Output 1 and going to a Matrix Power amp and EVH 4x12 cab behind me from Output 2. I'm sending the signal from Output 2 without any cab simulation.
Hello yea!! Now I am digging it ,,thanks for the info and the clip, great tone and really good chops man!

I've got a question: do you use the same tones between the Axe-Fx and your AX8? Or do you modify and/or scale down your tones to put them on the AX8? I'm curious as to exactly how much it is missing compared to the Axe-Fx (memory, amp models, etc.) I'm aware of the limitations of the AX8; but for live usage, it seems like a no-brainer.

Yep! I used a scene modifier on the Input Gain parameter. So instead of X/Y ing between the clean and dirty amps the scene modifier just lowers the gain to a clean sound on the dirty amp. Works like a charm.

what a great performance. you guys ruled. It would be cool if the singer used some of Ozzy's chorus effect on his voice. that would seal the deal.
Working on that. Want to get our singer a TC Helicon so he can have the doubler effect and add some delay fx when needed as well. Only thing is soundguys hate them.

They are basically exactly the same besides the clean channel. I use two separate amp blocks for clean and dirty on my Axe-Fx. Other that than the presets are exactly the same.

technically , it should make the sound guys happy as they don't have to do anything except set a level.
I agree but for some reason there are a few sound guys in our area that frown upon it. But they can get over it cause I just purchased the TC Helicon Voicelive 2 on evil bay.
