Grats, you won't be disappointed. It's a pretty powerful piece of equipment, lots of utility.

^^ Don't feel bad Rogue, you'll be able to afford an Axe2 one day. Just keep saving buddy
Already had a Standard. I too fell for the "OMG, the AFX is so WOW!!!!". It didn't live up to the hype of the fan boys. I know, I know, the AFXII is SOOOOOOO much better. Fool me once.

And Cliff will keep making an already outstanding product even bettererererererer. The guy is crazy like that, but we won't hold it against him like you do
And a fine product he makes. The problem is the dillusional world than the fan boys live in at how it gets better and better. At some point you have to admit the previous versions wasn't there. You can't have it both ways, but I know you will do your best.

Already up to V3. How could be any realer than the most real update that was 12 updates ago?
Well, it can. You just have to believe like Peter Pan.

The Cameron CCV amp model is MUCH better now. The CCV model in patch 2.0 and early sounded nothing like a CCV, but the 3.0 patch CCV model sound very good. Definitely has the cameron tone now, but the AxeFX2 is still lacking on the warmth and feel...but close.

Very cool .I am guessing you are talking about the direct recording ?
What if you were to run through a power amp and out to your Cameron 412?
do you think that would get ya even closer

Call me crazy but I think he will nail the missing links tube amp mojo ..2 years ago on the ultra firmware 8.0 if you had asked me I would have been skeptical and said not for a long time.
now I am not so sure .I certainly would not bet against him ..lol

I just installed the new update and plugged in. Unbelievable. I loved the sound of my Axe-FX II before but the update just added something significant to the tone. Everything just sounds tighter, less harsh, and clear. It definitely was not a slight change when I plugged in, it was a significant change. The high gain amps specifically are a huge improvement and just hit you in the chest.

y'know that voicing parameter you get on a lot of stereos and stuff? - the "Rock", "Pop", "Classical" ect. deal that you avoid? Well Cliff has now included his version of that in the new 3 firmware as well. Only thing is, this time it really works good. It's hard to believe, it's nice-it's useful. Now he just needs to add a compare button feature. It'd be cool to be able to do all your editing on a patch and quickly hear if you've really made improvements.

Ya it's pretty awesome. I messed with it (3.0) for awhile today, and a few of the mid gain amps (ac15, ac30, Princeton) just knocked me out. They breathe and you can make them fuck up like the real thing- lay into the guitar and they break up and get dirty/sloppy just like the real thing (in a good way). Impressive.

I'm still waiting for the one I paid for in May... same boat as the th3m1ke.

The good news Space is I think they are shipping from Fractal this week so we will have 3.0 and not have to worry about redoing presets ..
see there is always a silver lining .LOL

3.0 is great. Each time there is a FW update the Fractal stuff improves. All these complainers, man. Isn't it just like getting a great amp and then modding it for a little this then sending it away again and getting it a little more of that. When we first buy the amp it's like this is great, the best....after the mod it's like...it's not even the same amp it's way better...so I guess the best amp we ever bought before the mod was really garbage??? I don't think so. Even the amp builders themselves have all kinds of revisions, upgrades, etc. WTF is the difference?

The thing about the AxeFx FW improvements, is the FW upgrades are FREE of charge.

We are musicians, we are always searching for better tone no matter if it's a real amp or modeller or whatever. We tweak and tinker, that's what musicians do.
When something is 95% there it hard to get to 100% isn't it. Whether it's tubes or chips or pedals or guitars or....

Whatever gear you get, mod it, futz with it, paint it, upgrade, leave it as it is if you want.....have fun with it, geez.

BTW 3.0 is more realer than the previous more realer. Keep the FW updates coming...it's like getting a new toy every time.

I simply think the haters can't afford to have 1 or 2 great tube amps and also own the awesome Axe2. So they whine like bitches!!

I own some great tube amps and i also own the great Axe-Fx II

I have had my amps modded and they are great, and Cliff mods my Axe Fx for me.

It's not an either or thing people. I own some of the best amps and also the best modeler. Winning!!

These types of threads often seem to end with the "you can't afford it jealousy" defense.

If you buy into it with the expectation that it will closely follow a computer software paradigm, meaning periodic updates and an end of life cycle for the eventual next generation then you know what you are in for.

The Axe-FX II has allowed me to take all of the amps I used to own, wish I owned, or would never be able to afford to own, and put it all in one box. I have read how people are using their units with power amps, P.A. systems, FRFR, etc. and all of those are great. For me personally, I have found a great tone with a Mosvalve MV-962 out to a Marshall 4x12 with V-30s and a Marshall 4x12 with T-75s. I have my cabs separated by several feet and get a great stereo sound that really makes the effects stand out.

I can't say enough about the newest upgrade. Someone mentioned "string separation" and I have to agree that one of the improvements with the high gain stuff is that it is more defined and great for chugging.

How much "better" can a piece of gear get? Really. Was it so bad before that it needed to get "better"? What is "better"? Did pieces of it suck before? Are we talking about much "better"? Should the manufacturers wait until they get it all together before releasing this piece of gear or do it keep selling units when they keep releasing firmware updates? Basic marketing?

Honest Questions.
