Do you guys know what kind of power amp might make the Axe-Fx really come alive.

I'm talking about aggressive, thick, full on dimensional, even over-the-top sound. Maybe its a high powered power amp or something?

Let a brother know... I'm thinking about it... the dark side :jedi: :force:

If you favor great metal tones, the Mesa/Boogie Recto 2:One Hundred would be monstrous, as would the ENGL e850/100. For a slightly more refined and less aggressive presence from the power section, Boogie 2:Ninety.

Hands down fryette/VHT 2/90/2 or 2150.
Fits your description perfectly

This ^^^, are you NUTS???  :D

Don't like the Mesa 2:90 with the Axe-FX. Colors the sound way too much. I have a borrowed one that sits next to my SS analog power amp. The SS wins easily..

for a darker tonality, less power amp bite type of tone, the mesa 2:90:2.

for marshall-esque presence and bite/cut with a little more natural edge, VHT 2:90:2

for higher headroom of either? Mesa 500, strategy 400, or VHT 2150

my personal favorite? none of the above.

peavey classic 120/120, H&H V800, mosvalve 80:80, mosvalve stereo 500, and a few other miscellaneous power amplifiers that have no real titles or are not well known.

If you don't want any tonal coloration, go with a powered FRFR monitor. If you want a great power amp as an integrated part of the rig, the 2:90 is awesome. You dial your tones in with it at volume...not before hand and/or at bedroom levels.

Get the most powerful poweramp you can find. 3000W QSC 3002 or something, then set your sound with your favourit headphones/cab/monitor and adjust the global eq when you crank the volume. Fattest rhythm sound on the face of the planet? boost the 60 Hz and watch your buddys hairpiece blow away. ;)

Lol! Thanks man. I am thinking that it might come down to a severly outrageous power amp!

Wow "peavey classic 120/120, H&H V800, mosvalve 80:80, mosvalve stereo 500" hats a way different selection than most... How do they compare?

I couldn't disagree more. In my experience, the Mesa 2:90 sodomized the solid state power amps I tried.
