The Uno sucks. Get a Midisport 2x2. You definitely want to update to 5.24.

Some of the presets really suck but some are pretty damn good. But the one thing that is impressive is that you can hear the potential in these presets...like you can hear a much better tone within the presets. Hard to explain. Most of these presets do not sound like a pod or anywhere near it.

Oh, and another thing. If it came with 5.15 then all the presets are likely old. The new presets can be downloaded from the website.

I'm still such a noob at this, what does the midisport do - is it the interface to get on the computer to upgrade firmware and download patches? If so, does it do anything else?

Hey Rich, what are you running your Ultra through now? Direct into studio monitors or a guitar cab and poweramp? My absolute favorite is with the TS-100 poweramp and my MC212 Marshall cab. I leave the tube sim on and don't use the cab sims with this method and it just smokes.
I would suggest just going through all the presets for fun but don't take them too seriously. Also if you find something you like or somewhat like just look and see how the patch is constructed and use that as a base to build your own patch. The best sounds to me are when you build them yourself to your own ears. Also, there is a new "warmth" feature in the latest firmware that is just incredible. You can find that on the amp block sims "advanced" tab. You can also adjust the transformer settings for even more mojo.

Ok, quick Axe-FX question...
Let's just say that you want to use the Axe-FX with a power amp and guitar cabinet instead of monitors. Would you just simply defeat the cabinet simulators and get similar results to that of a head and cabinet?

I've gotta figure out this stuff out. I have no idea how to turn things on or off. Like for example, some of the presets when you open them in the editor have drives or effects that are grayed out...how do you enable them?

I'm running through my JVM for now. It also doesn't seem to be as loud as when just playing my JVM. Doesn't sound like 100 watts of tube power. i have the jvm master at like noon and the output on the axe at noon too and it's really not very loud...or as loud as you'd expect it to be.
Another question is how should I have this set up? The jvm only has a power amp in...so when I connect that to the axe, it only allows me to use one of the inputs and one of the outputs on the axe.
