all the members in my Band are blown away by it as was the sound guy

I may have to get one again if it does that now.
There's a big difference between getting blown away by something vs getting blown by something :hys:

and also with you

I was at the gig with Dan (original poster) and we, along with the sound guy who is a professional sound engineer, all agreed that this guy's tone was shit. It wasn't the venue or anything like that because we play the same room every month and our rig sounds killer. Can we chalk it up to him not dialing the tone in properly? Most likely. But still, Dan and I both got a laugh out of saying, "I can't wait to go on Rig-Talk tomorrow to bash the Axe-Fx and watch all the fanboys flip out." And guess what? It worked!  Honestly, it was just disappointing to hear such bad tone coming from such a great guitar player and it was easy to point the finger at the hot product. To each his own I guess.

Even with Ed and John's clips, who are both amazing musicians that I respect, I still don't like what I've heard out of the Axe-Fx. I'm not looking for any response as to what I'm missing as I don't really care. I'm just sayin'...

I must be a terrible pilot. I sold mine because I had the same experience as the original poster. Haven't missed it once.

You are not a terrible pilot. It did not give you the experience you were looking for. I wanted to love mine but it just was not there for me either. As is the case for others. Just like any piece of gear it is not for everyone. Does not make it bad by any accounts, just does not work for all of us.

It's perfectly fine that you don't dig what you here, shit there are plenty of heads i woulda never bought by how others make 'em sound.

I cannot see how you could not dig the axefx with all the things it can do, the cherry on top is the killer effects pallete that you have available. There are lots of supersoakers here and gain nuts and that box brings that in spades. I understand if one head brings you joy and happiness but how many here have owned the same head for more than 3 years? You say you have to have tubes but the revolving amp door keeps spinning around.

There are guys over at HRI saying there 16-20 space racks are down to 6-8 spaces with the axefx, that is saying alot to off load some of the legends that they once owned.

I must be the exception....
I gigged with my 5150 Combo for over 10 years and was completely happy until I played through a Revolution. I got one a couple months later and had a couple mods done and I'm in tone heaven. It's been just over two years now. I only use a couple pedals and they're all on a looper, my favorite tone is just straight in to the amp with a cable. I use my volume pot a lot to control my sound. Best investment in my tone ever was a Hotplate. I had an Intellifex once and hated it, I used it once then it sat in my closet until I sold it here.
So while I am interested in the technology, I realize from my history I probably would be disappointed if I bought one. But I do like some of the clips and am intrigued by the programming, etc. so I do read these threads and listen to the clips, and it's interesting reading on how some of the patches are made.

I knew someone was going to chime in stating their long standing love affair with their amp :D

Ha! I had my 5150 for so long I had to replace the input jack, twice! Not fun on that layout.

I don't care whether people want or like the Axe in the least, however, I guess I'm just not that picky 'cause I just don't get how you can't get a nice tone out of it REAL fast. Hell... there are several PRESETS that sound killer to me for noodling. That sure doesn't require much dialing, eh? :D In a half hour I was able to get a nice tone that pretty much matched what my PeaceMaker would do how I like it set... I guess if you wanted to do some crazy shit there would be some learning curve, but just to get a killer basic guitar tone seems not much different to me than working with a real tube amp. Especially with the editor... Hell... there are also a ton of killer patches of a variety of different tones on the Axechange if you don't like to tweak... Surely there is something there people could make some minor changes to and love... I dunno... maybe some people are overthinking it? I'm not having much of a problem making it sound good to me...

Hey... whatever blows your skirt up... I gotta say though - I haven't seen any "fanboys" flipping out in this thread at all. Just some folks discussing the unit and their experiences...

+1 and I really want to like it... :(

I'm up for trying it out if I ever see one in person. Anyone in Austin have one?

I do not disagree with any of the above. There are some great sounds in the Axe FX. I got mine and it just did not compare to my Cornford tonally IMHO. That does not mean that it will be that way for anybody else, just me. I have since gotten a Bogner Ecstasy and it just puts a smile on my face way more than the Axe Fx did. That does not mean the Axe Fx does not have some great tones, nor does it mean it is hard to program. I prefer the Eventide Eclipse effects to the Axe Fx and is what I am currently using, but that thing can be a pain to program. I think some people want to love it, some want to hate it, who cares. It works for you and you are happy that is what matters. It did not work for me and I am happy with my setup. These posts where people just want to stir up nonsense are probably the only individuals not happy with their tone so they have to pi$$ on everyone else's party!!!!
