I'm quite surprised. The AxeFX through headphones will deliver the full capability of the unit's amp & cab modelling straight to the ears. Assuming the simulation is all turned on (?)
Running it through any room speaker, whether it be an active monitor or a poweramp & cab, will only compromise the sound, if anything. A decent set of headphones allows you to hear the unit in its absolute purest form.
I'd actually argue that headphones are the optimum output medium.

Perhaps on theory, but as I say I used very high quality headphones and it sounded awful. I understand it's to so with the headphone connection to the unit.

That's a shame. It's an excellent unit. I'm sure you knew what you were doing with it, but many people struggle optimizing the global settings & setting the patch & output levels. The unit definitely need time & needs a good understanding of guitar signal chain.
I probably used 5% of the unit's capability.
Kinda why I don't like multi-FX generally. I'd rather hunt down a quality, boutique, single-purpose FX pedal as & when I need it.

Not dealing with this AxeFx drama lol I'm sticking with tubes and a Two Notes Torpedo Live :D

Now I just gotta find an amp i like better than the PT100 lol

Wait, both Suhr and Fractal are bringing new products soon.

What is the new Suhr? The Midi 4 channel PT100 that was supposed to be released like 2 years ago? lol

Ya, I know. Anyway, it's supposed to be a lower wattage PT with more options. My understanding is Pete has the demo and will be going in to production soon.
Anyway, if you are happy with the PT100 I think you should try TN live. I would be interested on how it works out for you. I'd like to buy one, but I have Vh4 gas right now! Many members seem to like it

Be interesting to see what fractal's next move is. The gap between all-digital & all-tube is already bridged by the ability to pair the AxeFX with an all-tube poweramp. I kinda thought they might look at bringing out some sort of hybrid combo, but I doubt they're kitted out as a company to get involved with tubes & it'd affect the business of the related companies like Atomic. One of the main benefits of the Axe is its portability.
I also though they might do a floorboard unit, but I doubt it's robust enough to withstand drink spillages & stamping. My guess is that they'll just stick with improving their rack system, firmware & UI & possibly bring out an additional more modest, affordable, 'lite' version of the AxeFX.

Maybe, but Cliff stated a different market. I'm thinking a TN Live type of unit with some effects. IDK but I think it will hit the market with a waiting list before the end of the year.
