So this is something I haven't read about on Rig Talk yet. 120,000,000 views for this video on YouTube. This band was invented by some young guy, it is different than Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, but not that different when put it in the context of what your parents thought of the music you listened to. When I show friends this they just stare blankly in bewilderment, they can't even really judge what they're seeing it's so odd. Good guitar work and tone for sure. Big fan here, they are one of my favorite modern bands. The music is like polished Slipknot speed combined Linkin Park catchy hooky pop stuff. Vocally, it is an acquired taste, but that lead vocalist is strong. You can't argue with the showtime performance either, they know how to work a big crowd.
 
Can’t stand them to be honest, it’s like a combination of a lot of the elements of modern metal that I don’t care for. Definitely lots of talent in the singing, musicianship, and visual performance / live performance and I’m glad that they’re getting acknowledgment + fans around the world.

AFAIK they haven't toured Australia yet.
 
I like it and don't hate the vocals. With many metal bands the vocals ruin it (cookie monster in particular) and for me these vocals didn't ruin it.

Plus they're cute and I'm a dirty old man.

that k-pop shit is so weird because so much if it consists of some hot chicks dancing, but they're dancing like children. With absolutely no hip-hop influence, or sexuality in the way they dance. they just bop around all goofy.

It cracks me up so many people around here still refer to death metal vocals as Cookie Monster lol.
 
I’m surprised at all the old guys here actually having tolerance for new music, I’m not going to rush out and buy this music but I do find it amusing and entertaining for about five minutes, and I agree with the Nintendo metal, that describes it best.
 
I’m friends with one of the original founding guitarists. It’s actually very sad when you look at the band dynamics. No one is friends with anyone and it’s ran like a business. He hated what it had become and is now.

i know bands where guys are literally suing each other and they still tour, the only time they are together is on stage. dosent sound like much fun

I noticed Baby Metal a few years back when Marty Friedman mentioned them in an interview. I showed them to my friends, they thought I was nuts.

I think Poppy took a lot from Baby Metal and applied it to her I Disagree album:

 
I recognize the talent, I understand the appeal...but just not my thing- I tap out after a couple of minutes
