Backstage at Steve Vai show yesterday at the Grove.

Hey Guys,

Rob from Friedman Amps/TM and I went down to the Steve Vai show at the Grove in Anaheim and delivered 2 Friedman Brown Eye Heads to Steve and Dave Weiner his guitarist. We went to lunch with Dave and he was a very humble nice guy who also lurks on the forum and asked if I would like to snap some pics of his and Steves stage set ups for you guys so of course I did.

Dave is playing PRS guitars into a Friedman Browneye head with a AXE II for FX only.

Steve is playing is Jems into his Carvin signature amps with a AXE II for FX only. (He loved the Friedman and wanted one for the studio).

It was possibly the clearest pictures in the set. Brad knows his priorities.

Cool stuff. I've thought about making a crazy carved hardwood cab for Steve using some of the various graphics from his albums but wouldn't know how to get it to him and don't know whether he'd put a head in it and keep it around.

Dave definitely seems like a cool dude. Been drooling over his 7 string PRS guitars; now I can be jealous of his BE100 too! (in addition to being jealous of his chops. Don't even get be started on how awesome I think Vai is).

The fan......Vai's stage wouldn't be complete without it, and the carpet. Did some research.....

Not sure what I should think of those Legacy 3 heads. Looking at the two on the pics, the settings seem totally random on the two 3's. On the old model Carvins the settings are more alike between the two heads, maybe he is using those in fact?

The Legacy 3's are not hooked up at all hence the random settings, he is using the older Legacy's on the bottom.

Since he is using Axe FX II, I am sure one is a spare. Especially if they are effects only...there is plenty of CPU for effects when not usiing amp and cab models.

I can't imagine Vai being caught without spare's.
