Let me start off by saying it's not here....joined a different forum a few weeks back on the advice of an acquaintance, just for more metal.
Was looking through the Classifieds, found a pedal I wanted, offered seller another pedal in trade, and he agreed. I shipped the next day and went on about my week.....dude got it, said he really liked it, and that was it. Sent him a PM asking about the one he was supposed to ship, and it took a minute, but he replied asking for my address, even though it was in the PM where we made the deal and I can prove it. Said that the pedal I was supposed to receive would ship 7/31-8/1.....nothing. He's had my address since 7/30 and I can prove that one too. Now, even though he logs onto the forum, he doesn't reply to PMs. This has been three weeks going on.
Dude has had my pedal since 8/3 and gave me a couple of excuses as to why he hasn't shipped. I get that sometimes things get in the way. I do...I've been guilty of not being able to ship exactly when I said I would, but I always hit up my buyer and tell him, stay in contact, just so everything is clear and no one is left doing what I'm doing, which is wondering "why the hell would someone try to rip off somebody else over the internet for a lousy $30 pedal?" I've done deals for thousands of dollars on RigTalk, SSO, MLP, the Dean Forum, have iTrader refs and 100% on eBay.....I've never actually had a bad deal on a forum, until now....I can't imagine why anyone would, when all anyone has to do is start a thread, say the person's name and contact info, and the person is screwed for life as far as internet gear deals go.
I did some diligence when it came to this place because I'm new, and dude had a lot of decent references so I went for it. Everybody seemed to have good dealings with him. I don't know if it's because I'm new, or what.
At this point, I don't know what the move is....he's an OG here and I'm a FNG. I don't want to out anyone, and at this point I want either the deal we agreed on, or I want my pedal back.
What would you guys suggest? Based on post count and rep, this would be like a guy here with 4 posts calling out SteveK for a $30 pedal
Burn him? Post his name/address/username everywhere? I posted this exact thing over there, but it's not a hugely busy site and no one has even looked at it yet, I don't think. I just don't want anyone else dealing with this guy for more expensive items.....he sells guitars and amps too.
