That's a hard choice but I guarantee that Toyota will hold it's value better if you need to get out from under it.

I have no doubt about that. We sold my Landcruiser for almost as much as I bought it for when it had over 100k miles and my FJ Cruiser sold for more than I paid for it new. But I had a hard time seeing out of that thing otherwise would have kept it because I got a Cadillac ctsv wagon which had alot of problems but was crazy fast. I'll also be in the market for myself next year, so trying not to go crazy if I can avoid it. So, over $30k isn't on the table for a car for her.

I hear ya, but if the vehicle keeps leaving her stranded and you are fixing it all the time, what's the point?

That's why I want to get her something new with a warranty and asked about the ford because it's what she likes.
If you want to throw the extra $30k towards a Tacoma, I won't argue :ROFLMAO:
I'm just not looking to spend $55k+ on a secondary vehicle for a teenager, is all.
Tbh, the Maverick was $19k+ a couple years ago and is already now $25k+ so already not super happy, but there aren't many options that will work for her needs in the budget I'm trying to stick to. If you know of others, I'm all ears.

I was watching these last year hoping they would bring them here to the states, but it seems that it probably won't happen.
Apparently to launch at $10k USD elsewhere in the world.

You might actually see Jeep Chrysler/Stelantis go out of business soon.
They sold a 100k JK models per year for a decade or so so I think so parts in the aftermarket should be plentiful short of wwiii. I wasn't trying to bag on my bros 4 runner, I'd like to have a Camry, but his rig has electronics even tied to the windshield. The level of electronics for cars is getting out of control and we just don't want that. Me and my wife like them so we're on our third one.

Toyota is the easily the best vehicle out there in terms of reliability. My old man always says "If I want to take a vacation and have stories to tell, I take my Cadillac but if I just want to get where I'm going I take my Toyota". LOL

I would not have a Jeep if Toyota had kept producing the FJ Cruiser. I don't understand why they let that model go. I've driven them and factory they are like a refined, more reliable Jeep. They had the tacoma V6 motor. There was a certain few years where you open the hood and the spin on oil filter was right there, same with the Tacoma of course. That shit just made sense. Triple wipers. Man those were a great machine but by the time we had the dough they were done and all the used ones mostly had high mileage and as you said they still commanded $$$

How is a Tacoma 55k?

Covid, greed, popularity ?‍♀️
The cheapest crew cab 4x4 Tacomas around here are $40-45k (including "dealer discounts") + destination + service + tax + registration/state fees = $51-58k with the lowest in stock quote of about $54k otd.

Quoted $26-28k including everything otd on multiple Mavericks with AWD + crew cab. Both vehicle prices include service contracts though (about $2k), but not tops which are another $2-5k depending on brand, features, color matching.

Can't you build one and order it?

I tried to like mine, but every window was hard to see out of.
Not fun for offroading or really driving in general because of that.
I would take any Jeep over it.

Not with crew cab and 4x4 for much under $50k total otd. It doesn't really get cheaper.
The cheapest Tacoma is like $31-32K. Add $10k for crew cab and 4x4 + $1,700 destination +$2k service + 11% tax + $1,750 registration/state fees.
99.99% positive a Tacoma is off the table, my friend.

Yeah that was the negative, poor side-rear vision. Having previously owned an HHR panel and a cargo van with no side windows beyond the driver/passenger it was a non issue for me.

My first car was a 1978 Ford Grenada that I paid $60.
My second was a hatchback Pontiac Phoenix from 1983 with a 6 cyl.
Third was a K-car from 1985 that I paid $45.
The list goes on...

Funny, K-car took a fairly fianl shit so the old man tok her down to the Waverly auction south of Watkins Glen.
He comes back from auction minus my car, so I walk up to the old shit with my hand out.

Old coot slaps my hand away and tells me I owe him $25 for the auction fee.
My car didn't sell so he left the title in the glove box and came home with the cars he bought...

My first car was a yellow 71 Chevelle Malibu and then a 90s 300zx that I destroyed by driving it to desert raves all the time with the hatchback full of dj gear. The bottom of the entire car was scraped, dented, and just trashed. Had to replace the fuel tank at one time. Finally, I got hit on the Las Vegas strip by a truck which did a lot of damage. My friend also smashed her face on the dash and broke her nose. After the police took the accident report I drove off and the hood flew open and smashed into the windshield. It was either the next day or maybe two later we were in another friend's car and she went through a stop sign and crashed into another car and the same friend who broke her nose was sitting in the passenger seat and smashed her face on the dash again. Good times.

Just a comment on Nissan: i do a lot of interstate driving and always take note of the breakdowns alongside the road with the orange sticker. I've noticed a lot of Nissans.
Electronics are just overwhelming now, car shopping for me would be the model with the least amount.

And who said East and West coast cant get along?
We have had similar awesome experiences with autos!

I swear a teradactyl flew down my windshield and glided down over the hood of my '84 Camaro around 1993 (?).

I have heard they have since gone extinct, but honestly scared the shit out of me...

I had an 07 f350 power stroke with the zf6 transmission. Long bed. Straight pipe and cut the cat off. Ran 35’s with no lift. Paid 7k for it and ran it for years. Haul all kinds of band equipment. Got about 20 mpg tuned. Think how cool she would be rolling coal in one of those.

I smashed one going to a funeral a few weeks ago. Fuckin red tailed hawk. I used to be a big time rabbit hunter so I was happy about that.

Funny, I have almost zero small critters on my 7 acres all due to hawks and the occasional fox.

I know it wasn't a dinosaur that flew down my hood in the early morn hours, but fuck, maybe an eagle or an osprey, the wingspan was enormous!

We have golden eagles around here and those things are huge.

Don’t know if it’s illegal or not but I have a buddy that shoots those red tails on sight. But he’s a hardcore rabbit hunter. Says its a personal crusade…?
