I first started looking into to these around '04 based on internet hype. After speaking with them about some of their models I found it odd that they referenced Seymour Duncan very frequently when describing their pickups..."like a JB with more bottom", "think of it as a Custom with more mids", etc, etc. I've played several of their pickups and they sound great, but not so great that I think they have a value significantly above and beyond the Duncans that they apparently used for inspiration. The majority of those tonal differences are most likely easily made up for with a bit of eq on the amp.
I see they get an awful lot of love here. At this point they seem like glorified Duncans to me...what am I missing? What makes these so much better that many of you are willing to pay double Duncan prices for them? Thanks
