There is a lot of filler on both albums as far as I am concerned. Favorite song by a long shot off of either is BATM, but I would put Ultimate Sin ahead of the full BATM because I can listen a few more tracks off of Sin without cringing.

Bark at the Moon for me. Just brings back killer memories of when that album came out. The song BATM is probably in top 5 favorite songs ever written out of the 80s. It spews 80s metal.

I was pretty young during this era, and kind of went back and discovered them both at the same time time. As a body of work, I think that maybe Bark has slightly stronger song writing and composition. That said, I do no like the production on Bark, at all. I tend to listen to records "as a guitar player" and I feel like JEL's playing and tone was superior on Ultimate. And, I feel like Ultimate Sin is one of the heaviest riffs ever associated with pre-Zakk era Ozzy. All things considered, Ultimate Sin takes it by a tight margin for me.
I had to get use to the keyboards

I chose BATM, but I really like both of them for the snapshot they give into the development of JEL and his collaborators at the time, as well as the production. I have a bit more affection for BATM, purely as a result of nostalgia. 17 years old, senior year of high school, fall of 1986, and had the BATM cassette perpetually going in my car, first break up with what I viewed as a "serious" girlfriend at the time, lol. So funny how we associate various music with certain points in our lives.

These albums were a clear sign Ozzy lost his song writer.
Nope, Bob Daisley was still on board, at on BatM.
It's well known and common sense that Bob Daisley brought the songs
on the first two records in a form that we can call them "songs"

So it was probably Bob who turned Leo Brouwers Etude No. 6 into "Diary of a Madman"

Bark , mainly because of the era it reminds me of and I think for the most part the songs are great . Sin is a great listen but it reminds of 1986 which I thought was a bad year for hard rock

Notice I said hard rock and not metal lol . MOP , Peace Sells and Reign In Blood are classics. VH gave us 5150 , Judas Priest gave us Turbo, both those albums to me were a big letdown. Thinking about it now there was some good stuff in 1986 but it just seemed like a confusing time for some bands, do we keep our street cred or do the big hair thing . Who Made Who was cool but was a compilation for the most part save for a few songs . 1980 thru 84 just seemed like a completely different vibe
