Based on you playing style, what amps tend to suit you??

I've noticed that some amps we feel better than other while playing, I'm not talking about tone here, I'm talking about FEEL.... how the amp feels while playing it.

When I was playing more hard rock and metal, I was not the fastest shredder by a long shot, I could solo here and there, but was not really a "LEAD" guitarist, I was more of a rhythm guy. I had a very fast right hand (all that's gone now that I hardly play metal  ) but at thata time I liked fast amps.... VH4/Mark series etc...... not my tastes in music have changed and my style has changed too.

At the moment I like warm bouncy spongy amps.......like Fender Blackface amps, Two Rock, Dumble clones (fuchs, ceriatone OTS, etc)

how about you?

Still figuring it out, Joey... Still figuring it out :D

I tend to like amps that are aggressive and tight as a hell....

Modded Marshalls
Makoplex
VHT Deliverance
SS Randalls (X2, RG, Centuries)
Boosted Rectos
Mesa Marks

I can make pretty much any high gain amp work, but prefer the Makoplex, VHT, and Randalls to most anything, and a good Recto is a must as well..... come to think of it I need another Recto.

I just recently discovered the Engl Powerball, I really enjoyed playing that amp, and would love to try a Savage.

Ventura, we know you can play anything man! don't rub it on our faces! :D

I like Marshalls quite a bit; however, with my style of play, a ton of gain and saturation to cover up my playing would probably be better!

I still like the tight amps too...but I like less gain and more tone.
VH4, Mark V, Marshalls, Uberschall, Recto with an EQ in the loop to tighten it up...
I have discovered I need more wood in a guitar, and tighter pickups to complete the experience.

It's kind of been a problem with the Axe-FX, a lot of amps and patches don't sound as tight as their real amp counterparts, and it takes quite a bit of dialing in to get close enough.

I think my Deliverance 60 with Deliverance 4x12 suits my style well. I'm also partial to my boosted JMP but the D60/D412 rig just feels right.

I agree with MightyWarlock. I am really diggin' amps, even for hard rock, that have less gain and more tone. The Roadster is a boon for this type of desired outcome. My Marshall not so much, mainly because of the amount of blaring volume required to achieve such tones. The Mesa is very versatile and sounds awesome at lower and mid gain voicings with the mids high. It is very tight and very articulate. If I need some more gain, volume and noise I just push it with my OCD at 18 volts. I rarely use the Roadster outside of channels 1 and 2 now. Just a clean and crunchy gain, with my OCD for some extra hair is all I need. It's nice to know I can bring one amp to a gig and get that kind of versatility - plus the effects loop bypass (or individual channel assignability on the back of the amp) on the footswitch is pretty awesome too. If I ever did need that 3D wall of distortion, loose Recto thud sound, its nice to know I have it on channels 3 and 4.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Marshall. It is so great, but more of a one trick pony. I'm not into turning down the volume on my guitar whenever I need to swap over to a clean tone. I don't like volume pedals either, unless for swell effects. I like to have an assignable clean channel and dirt channel. The Roadster gives me this in one box. The clean channel at 50 watts, with the gain cranked, can easily give me the distortion and tone I need for any application. Throw the OCD on top of that, and I have one smooth sounding rig, with a lot of harmonic breakup and characteristic at higher gains.

My go to amps are Deliverance 120, Ultralead, CLX.
I use the D120 and D4x12 for almost all recording.
UL for almost all live stuff.
Thick, super high, tight gain, sustain, articulation, excellent cleans and amazing low gains.
Add the EQ and there is just about every tone I need.

Mark amps, and recto/SLO type amps. Im only in two kinda amp categories. I am A HUGE Metallica fanboi, so I like a nice tight ampp, but also a thick amp. I should someday, Buy a diezel VH4, I would love that! :)

my goto amplifier is a 5150. always has been, always will be.

my goto speakers are sheffield 1200's not because they sound good, but because they dont lie and are a very true/transparent speaker to the amplifier.

other amps i love are the engl powerball, great sounding old marshalls, and the diezel einstein.

I'm a big XTC fan myself...I'm currently the lead singer in my band, and hate to have all that cash tied up in a rig for playing 3 -5 songs a gig. My Sig X does a good job, and has that lead bloom/feedback thing going on that I love.

Diezel Herbinator... just tight enough, got enough compression for solo/leads yet open enough. And I need tons of gain, even if I play some VH..

i'd love to try a SLO 100 one day (for leads mostly) and a Dino 939 or Fortin for tight rythm stuff

I love the Soldano SLO for everything that I play. The feel and voicing of the amp are perfect for me. I can roll back the gain on the lead channels, dial up the Depth mod and still have an awesome tone. If I swap between speaker cabinets of different types, the SLO sounds different then as well, yet it still sounds great.

I like the Mesa Mark Series line and older Marshalls. I have a Mark 3, Mark 4 and a clone of Adam Jones' Marshall with a Marstran OT. The last amp I have is an old Twin that was Blackfaced and modded by Mike Clark. He modified the tremolo circuit to not load down the preamp as much as the original circuit does. This Twin has that spongy feel to it.

If not for my affection toward the Mesa Mark amps, I would pretty much dig Marshall variants for dirty tones.

kindda tossing the (misery loves company) theory out the window!

i have no style, yet i choose to sound really bad very loudly! :D

for the most part i'm done chasing tone, and will take feel over tone these days. no rhyme or reason to what i like or prefer. big mean and compressed, to tight dry and fast.

I have rather limited ownership experience compared to a lot of folks here (5150, Mark V, JCM 800, Orange TT)... but I kind of like everything. Most of the music I write lends itself to doing well with a pretty tight amp, but as some have said above... I can appreciate listening to someone play well with a ton of gain, but I don't seem to ever dial that much myself. I like hearing the strings, even if it just magnifies my mistakes :D

Love my Mk V, but I do find myself wishing I owned something completely different from it to go to as well...

I could be fine and dandy with Mesa Boogies and Marshall. Most of all my favorite tones from the pros were made with a Boogie or Marshall.
