So, I thought I would share some observations after owning the BE-100 Deluxe for a week. You can call Dave "The master of master volume" all day long, but the hard truth is that this amp needs to be loud to get the goods. If you want the raging gain and pissed off modded Marshall tones, the System Volume and Masters need to be cranked. Which means that this is not a "for the house" kinda amp. The amp sounds lifeless and dull without volume. Period.

The BE50 would be more than enough to get all but an arena gig taken care of. And if I had it to do over again, I would probably go that route. While the Plexi channel is nice, I don't personally need three gain channels. The Plexi channel does sound glorious as a clean channel though. I guess I'm about to find out how much the sound engineers at clubs are going to let me get away with. lol!

The Two Notes Captor X attenuation does not play nicely with this amp. (Not the BE's fault.) The preset EQ curves sound very harsh with this amp. So again, I will see what the sound guys is gonna let me get away with. I may be spinning my cab as a side fill at shows.

With that said... when you can get some real volume on this amp, it sounds glorious. It has all of the punch you in the chest tone that you could ask for. As the MV goes up, the top and bottom end fill out just like you want them to. It has bite and snarl, with growling mids and just crushing bottom end.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

Have you tried cranking the master volumes and using a line level control in the effects loop? That’s a Bogner trick with the Bogner effects loop volume controls.

They are top tier amps. The process of getting to really know the ins and outs of an amp in that league is one of the best experiences gearheads like us can have.

Enjoy it!

Agreed. My WW Smallbox was great at low volumes, but AMAZING the few times i got to crank the heck out of it.
i own a powerstation now and wish i had kept the WWSB.,..

This does wonders with the XTC!

Yeah, I crank my amp, (well, 3 on the Master, which is LOUD), and use the volume pedal on my multiFX. Works like a charm.

I found the same with the JJ-100 I had but I wouldn’t have expected anything else. They do sound “good” at low volumes, that’s no lie. It is nice that you can easily play it at low volumes when desired but that is not “the sound” of the amp and you won’t find it until typically loud Marshall levels.

Your speakers aren’t even demonstrating their optimal sound and impact at those wife-appeasing mousefart levels.
