Hello, I'm planning to get a Friedman amp this year, but still don't know which model should I go for.
BE-100 sounds really great in the PhilX's demo. DS also sounds really good, too!
Besides classic rock high gain, I also like playing low/mid gain stuff.
If don't consider the price, which one is better for me?

Thanks for help!

The BE also covers a wider range from classic rock to more modern high gain, it also has a clean channel and a metro loop which the DS does not have either. I haven't played a DS but from the vids I've seen it seems to need a boost out front to do the higher gain stuff. I would go with a BE myself but if you want a more traditional no frills rock machine the DS seems to be perfect. Welcome to the board.

I've owned both and still have my BE100, almost two years now. Get a full loaded BE100 and you'll be a happy camper!

I've had both and it's the BE all the way. The DS is cool but it has a bit looser feel and isn't as versatile.

Be for me too... Really awesome amp. Even better than the older marshas imo...more gain less noise and better master....sounds awesome

Thanks guys. Do you guys think BE will work well with 2x12 cab?
Where I live is difficult to place 4x12. BE with 4x12 can get big sound for sure, but not sure 2x12 will also work great.

2x12 will be fine, I would probably do two 16 ohm speakers in parallel for an 8 ohm load. Just use something like a V30 that has a 60w rating so your cabinet will have a 120w rating

Both brilliant amps. DS is more forgiving and cleans up really well. Just in the process of getting a box which will enable switching between low and high inputs will mean cleaning up with guitar vol will be immense.
I play heavy rock through to Metallica so don't worry that a DS won't get you the gain. It will.

I prefer the voicing of the DS and it is much more open/3D sounding.
Put a boost with the DS and it covers everything.

It is without doubt the best single channel amp I have heard played. Not played my BE for a while.

Cheers Rich

Seems like I need to get both, HA! Does DS come with effect loop for standard, now?

I do love traditional rock. Don't play modern high gain so often. I'm going to use Friedman amp for recording stuff. For gigs, I'll use my Fuchs TDS that has three channel, and more flexible.
