Looking for a cab to pair with my BE100. So what are you guys using?

I just sold my Mesa Recto 2x12. Didn't love it with the BE100. Seemed a bit "dark".

I rented a 1960A and will try it out this weekend.

I have access to (prices in CAD):

Marshall 1960 B used ($500)
Friedman 4x12 new ($1500)
Mesa 4x12 used ($700)
Marshall 1960AX (seller asking $1100)
Marshall 1960 AHW (seller asking $1200)
1960BX unloaded used (Seller asking $400) + buy some speakers.
Splawn 4x12 used (seller asking $600)

Other options (new) I suppose I could just order up anything.

My Bogner 2x12OS (8yrs old) V30 spkrs, easy to carry to the studio or through the streets of NY, sounds awesome. I've owned & tried Marshall to Friedman 2x12 and 4x12 and the Bogner is my favorite with the BE100. I don't really like the speaker model variation difference (V30/GM12-25 Greenback) in cabs for recording and live performance but in the "living room" it's fine, From your list if those are the cabinets of choice, I would just go with the Friedman, they do a great job at matching their systems, for financial consideration Most Pro's on the road today use Marshall.

Buy the Marshall and load it with Greenbacks and V30's

I use the Friedman 412. Best sound with the BE, IMO.

Friedman 412 for me as well. It seems to be the most appropriate cab for this amp. Previously i was using a Marshall cab loaded with G12-65's, which sounded great, but the Friedman cab really made it come alive.

Agreed.

I've used a Marshall 1960BX, my 212 with v30's (probably the second best), Uberkab, and an EVH 412. The Friedman with v30/ GB mix is the one.

Thanks guys. I'll go try out the friedman 4x12. There's a shop about 45 minutes from me that has one.

Buy a cab with 4 x V30s and I'll swap you two greenbacks for two of your V30s : )

I already owned a Bogner 412 cab. Thought about selling it and buying a Friedman 412, but I swapped two V30s for two Greenbacks and love the way it sounds. Will not be looking into buying a new cab anytime soon...

But I agree with most guys on here: the amp builder will be able to build the best matching cab to get the "best" sound from the amp. That said, you might be looking for something a tad different. IMO when you get to this price-point and high quality gear, it's not so much "better", just "different".

My experience is "what works, works" No One Opinion has the perfect answer, although I did really love a Bogner Shiva 2x10 with 1=v10 & g10 combo more than a 2x12 or 4x12 mixed speaker setup, what works for one might not with another. Search other Fourms on this and you'll be surprised what most players think.

I'm surprised more don't use Creambacks with their Friedmans. I agree with most, I was blown away by the Friedman 4x12 speaker mix and cab response with the BE and found a good deal on new one couple years ago, but I have played a 4x12 Creamback loaded cab and loved that classic hard rock tone as well. I have 2 CB m65's I'm looking for a home for right now.

Most people recommend the Friedman cab. I'm using the EVH 5153 4x12 with the EVH greenbacks. You can get them used and they are great cabs!

I have. I swapped the two v30's of my Friedman cab so that I had two Greenbacks and two Creamback 65's. Sounded great, lots of bottom end. But I went back to the v30's.

My SLO sounds amazing through the Friedman with GB/V30 mix, so it works for multiple amps.

I also use the EVH greenback cab. I think it sounds really great!!!

Agreed on both your experiences! Have said it several times... but the Friedman 4x12 GB/V30 stock cab has really made every amp I've played and owned since 2013(when I bought the cab) sound just really well rounded, open, and I guess just more true like in a transparent way to the amps tone and I've played several Fender's and dozens of Marshall and Mesa stuff. Back to Creamback65's, since they were too bass heavy to my ears also in my Bogner 2x12, I was thinking a smaller 2x12 with the CB65's big bass would sound great. Reason I'm concerned is because the two CB65's never found a home and are still sitting around my studio for 16 months just waiting to be played. These CB65's really do sound so good alone and I've noticed they sound great in 1x12s. and combo amps. So after being mega bass strong in my Bogner 2x12OS i kind of stashed them away. So year goes by and I played another Cream65 loaded Bogner 4x12 with a BE100 in Nashville. Best cab tone I've heard with the Creambacks was a Bogner 4x12 that was loaded with them that I've played at the guitar shop a couple years back. So now I'm a believer again of these powerful Greenback type speakers, they just seem cab picky.

I believe Jerry and Bill Kelliher played a good while and few tours with 4x12 Friedmans loaded w/Creambacks, or atleast thats what they said they had

Questions: So can you tell me (besides too bassy) exactly what else you didn't like much about the CB65's in place of the bottom v30's? Also have you tried the Creamback 65 in any other cabs? Just looking for opinions man, I'd appreciate it.

Really been on the hunt to find a decent medium to small 2x12 thats not bass heavy and has good highs for these killer rocking Creambacks, that I originally got for the Bogner 2x12OS. Would really like two 1x12s for the house to run two amp stereo by the loop returns.

I just love my BE100 through my Bogner 2x12OS (8yrs old w/V30's) my SLO is going through Celestion G12K-100 fantastic speakers. :)

I use a Rivera SS Iso Cab.. But it sounds amazing with any cab, to be honest
