Modern music like comparing Ikea furniture to Chippendale. You used to have to have some skill and be a craftsman. Now most popular music for the masses is mass produced flat pack.

How old are you? In general
I’m a little baby look at my avatar

Don’t get butthurt about it. Being young is great! But can you substantiate your opinion? ?

Totally not butthurt.

I can substantiate but I avoid arguing on the internet. If I say this people say that and it just becomes a shit show. I’ll just stick with Beato seems like an old fart that thinks there’s no good new music and I disagree.

I’m older than him btw

I also disagree that there’s no new good music. In fact some recent releases have immediately moved to my all time fave list, and I recently heard a band live doing something totally new and impressive to me. But I think it’s hard to deny that the general quality and innovation in music is lessor than what it used to be. And certainly that music has largely moved to second, third whatever place behind social media and whatever else in popular culture. People in general are also less musically sophisticated and literate IMO. I could be wrong but I don’t sense the sort of excitement and passion among younger people either, even in underground, indie and alternative scenes.

I’m trying to be objective and skeptical whether I’ve simply fallen into the older jaded stereotypes or midlife doldrums but I really think something has shifted. Someone mentioned economics. The internet as well. I think we’re suffering a general cultural decline honestly. And I’m not talking about solely from a traditionalist viewpoint. Too many vaccines, too much TV, social media, corporations and public education!

I don’t think about all that. I just love music and I’d be lost without it. Music is my therapy . Tommorow at my gig I’ll rattle off 60+ songs and I’ll enjoy the response especially from the drunk women that tell me how awesome and sexy I am. ( they’re drunk but okay )

I think there is great music being made today except Wagon Wheel. I refuse to play Wagon Wheel even tho I wish I wrote it and made all that money from that song :)

Beato isn't saying that anyway. He acknowledges there is some good new talented musicians and gave examples of the interviews he's done with them on his channel.

In order to discuss topics you have to generalise sometimes. There are always going to be specific examples that buck a trend.
