I just hate my wet / dry rig, never want to transport it, so many freaking cables
so I'm thinking of giving up on the wet dry thing
and putting dist, modulation and delay all in front of my mojave peacemaker, set mid gain or even cleanish

what's the best distortion pedal that will get me in the ball park of a cranked organic tone with as much gain as a cranked plexi
I have an ocd, but was only using it a s a boost

ocd sounds good, with gain up, but not really like a distortion pedal, too clean sounding

tonebone?
purplexi?

I really like the suhr riot sound, but can that be used on a marshall type amp that is breaking up?

I haven't tried this myself, but have you tried boosting the OCD with a some sort of TS pedal?

If the plexi has some brealup going on, I would go with a Tonefreak Naked OD. With clean setting, a Suhr Riot or Severe by Tonefreak sound really good.

There was a clip of a Pete Thorn demo with the Naked OD. I think he was using a Kustom amp or something like that. I will look for the video and post it.

I like the Tim/Timmy for a distortion pedal, but I'm not crazy about them as a clean or low gain boost...

thanks guys
anyone else get fed up with bigger rigs and turn to doing everything in front on a pedal board?

If you're looking for a hot rod 80's ampy sounding pedal that sounds killer through the front end of a clean, loud marshall, check out the BARBER DIRTY BOMB.

If you want to play 70's, 90's, or experimental stuff, get a Muff Clone like a "Stomp Under Foot" Civil War.

I'm really liking the mxr cae boost/overdrive, but I still didn't try it with my '73 JMP (which apparently has a jose mod)

I have a tonebone hot british that I use on fender amps that I love!!! It doesn't get so high gain but sounds better on lower gain settings than say a Suhr Riot.

On the other hand I tried it in front of a clean 1959 and did not like the sound...

Oh yeah, i tried the modelers but i prefer to have pedals in front of me where i can reach down and twist a knob. And good pedals sound like they're about the explode where as most rack gear.....to me....sounds to hifi, sterile, or polite sounding. It's suprising to me that most rack gear I've heard can't mimic a simple phase 90.
