Synergy experience

sounds like a great reason to hook the X88ir to the Syn SLOII with the 4CM unless you’re dead set on keeping the two rigs discreet.
but hard to imagine needing the SLO II and X88ir in the same rig! animal!
It’s just the way things worked out on my recent purchase frenzy!
I got the Synergy rig, and then I had second thoughts, and also got the X88IR rig, so I have to sell Soldano types of amps.
Yeah, I keep all the rigs separate.

As someone who had never used an SLO before, i've been pretty impressed with the tones i'm getting. Does a great ACDC at lower gain and has a nice grind at higher gain. Like I said before, definitely benefits from a boost pedal IMO but i'm sure the original amp is like that.

I don't see myself using a ton of modules. With my Orange Dual Baby, I have one tone I use. The clean channel is great on the 20IR and perfect with some reverb and delay.

I'm pretty sure I'll dig the JMP Marshall since I use that type of tone. For heavy stuff, I'm sure the Bogner would blow my mind.

Is going to be interesting seeing where I go with the Sunergy stuff. I can see myself getting a Syn-2 and using it in the near term with my Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 and eventually upgrading to a tube power amp. I need to figure out how I want to use this.

For those of you who have the 20IR, do you occasionally get crackling and some hum? I figured it is the tubes warming up but wasn't sure if it is preamp or power tubes.

I think I am going to return my 20IR for a replacement. I'm getting some crackling and noise that is coming and going and being a tube amp owner in the past, I know it is a pream0 or power tube.

I'd swap it out myself but Synergy's manual makes it sound like you'll do 40 years at Rikers Penetentary if I open the case, lol. I just got it so better to send it back and get a replacement now rather than sending it to Synergy.

Even with that noise, this amp and the SLO II module rock!! I had my Griffin pedal and my Keeley Andy Timmons both set as boosts and was unreal the chug I was getting. 🤘🤘🤘

The SLO II is one I dont have that I have been curious about, but not sure if it would be different enough from the 6505 to have both.

ain’t gonna lie…the X88 looks mighty cool!

being an unapologetic rack guy i like what this guy was dialing in with his

btw
if anybody finds modules that nail these tone let me know!

While I doubt I’ll ever give up my Cherry Bomb and I love my Mark III+, I think the Synergy stuff is top notch!

I have a ton of experience with the Randall and Egnater modular stuff, including a lot of the modded modules, I think the Synergy system is a definite step up.

I own the Syn 50 and like it quite a bit bit as the platform. For modules, my three go to’s are the Drect, the Pitbull and the Cali. I have also kept the 6505, VH4 ( somewhat of a surprise because I didn’t get along with any of the real amps that I owned) and the BE DLX. Have owned pretty much all the high gain modules and these fit me best. The IIC was cool too, but I have that ground more than covered with the III+.

I ordered another 20IR this morning and going to send the other one back since I'm getting that noise. I'm sure it is just a tube but with it being new, I didnt want to send it to Synergy or try to diagnose it myself, etc.

I am really getting some killer tones with this thing and so impressed. I'm running into an Orange 1x12 and haven't even played thru my Orange V212 yet.

Definitely getting a Marshall JMP module next.

That sounds a lot like the BMAN module to my ears.

Sounds like Landau's guitar also has some compression on it in post, which would be easy enough to route between the module and poweramp.

Just heads up if you have any issues, Blad at synergy is the f’n man. He helped me out free of charge about a month ago when my used syn50 blew some fuses….overnighted new tubes, fuses and figured out the issue.

I have both. They are similar, but different enough for me to keep both. The SLO sounds bigger the way I have them set up, and the 6505 has more gain and seems to be a touch brighter. The 6505 almost feels a bit squishier compared to the SLO.

I didn't get around to setting up the SLOII for rhythm on the overdrive channel and leads on the crunch channel last night. Got wrapped up in the JMP. Was really digging that one for some 70's and 80's tones boosted with the SD-1.

Master volume on the JMP at 10:00 is louder than the SLOII at 1:00. Otherwise, 70's switch, first volume knob off, second almost all the way up, both bright switches up, bass off, mids at about 3:30, and treble about 4:00. I did add a touch of depth from the PS-2 but only 9:00 or a bit lower.

Very cool Kix, early Ratt, Dokken, and High N Dry Def Lep era tones. Sun Red Sun form Badlands and BATM sounded great also. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what other tunes I was playing that were working well with that tone. Burning some vacation time so have been running a bit hard!

He helped me out too when an old Gen1 MTS module fried my SYN2. There's an issue where the pins don't seat fully into the plugin slot and can cause arcing. I had heard he left and took another job somewhere else. Good to know that's not the case and he's still there.

That is awesome to hear!! Thanks for the heads up man!

I'm excited to get the JMP! I was going to trade the SLO-II for the JMP but I dig it and figured I'll just snag another module, lol.

No, mine is dead quiet.. looks like you got this taken care of though. I love the bottom end of the SLO.. it really thumps through my Friedman ported 1x12.
