I got a Marshall Jcm800 and i look for a good distortion pedal , i thought to ans Digitech Hardwire Metal
Is someone can show me the way to find the best Distortion pedal effect

IMO, the Xotic BB pedal is the greatest distortion pedal know to man.

2nd would be the Analogman modded Tube Screamer.

I see overdrive/distortion as the same thing really. I put fuzz also in the same family as any distortion pedal can get fuzz when eqed the right, or wrong way.

For pure distortion, maybe the Keeley modded DS-1.

For total sizzle, the original BOSS Heavy Metal pedal.

I likes me a nice combo of distortion & overdrive.

You wanna boost a JCM800 into tonal bliss???

Boss SD-1.

I was expecting to see some Bogner Red comments. Looking for something similar.

Not that good or just not that popular yet?

I LOVE my Bogner Red pedal. Granted I haven't heard them "all", so many, but of what I've personally ever tried, it's the best for high gain, pissed off, sounds like an amp distortion.

Working on a little jam right now fwiw, this is all Red XTC on both rhythm and lead (short clip)...

Short Bogner Jam / Download

For a distortion pedal I've heard nothing better than the Wampler Triple Wreck.

Thanks man!!!! Between the couple amps I have and their tones, plus the Bogner Red and Jetter Red 2 pedals (which the clean channel of the DSL seems to love), I've been way satisfied with my tones - yeah, I said it, lol...truly happy and just making music these days, basically have no gear GAS. I still like drooling over amps and guitars though. ;)

what do you think about Hardwire digitech Metal
Does it matter what we think? Do you like it is the question. Frankly for probably the same money (or close) I'd pick up a Barber Dirty Bomb. But it also depends on what you're looking for. Boosting your dimed 800 will do a lot of different metal tones, perhaps not super tight stuff but definitely thrash. I think early Metallica was Marshalls with Rats in front.

That clip was bitchin! How do you guys like the bogner pedals vs your amp's gain channel?

As for suggestions, mod the 800 with .1 bypass cap over the 10k resistor on V1 and use a screamer (of any type)and bam! done for gain. Couple other things to do to it but that is the main one for some nice gain and detail.

Even simpler, get a stock SD-1. I find it colors it a tad for my liking but it does have insane amounts of gain with that pedal. 800's rule, not too much you need to do to them to make them cooperate.

If you are set on using the clean channel, the good old MI AUdio crunch box does the trick nicely and sounds good.

I have a Jetter R2 that I use with my DSL100 as well. This Red looks like it plays well with lots of amps.

Just bought one from Brad an hour ago.

Get a Megalith distortion !!!

Those are monster!!!

I have one and it slays, you can score them from dealers on ebay for like 250

also the Blackstar HT- Metal is really killer too, that is my next pedal

G.

Carl did a review on the Dirty Little Secret too. That seemed like a great sort of JTM front end
