They did, but if it has ever caused permanent blindness it was in rare instances. The wasp spray of 40 years ago is what I got in my eyes.

If you get bored, Google “ Does wasp spray cause blindness”. Not only will my claim be confirmed, you will also get lots of information about why wasp spray should not be used instead of “ bear spray” or mace.
The person I knew was "legally blind", and have facial scaring. That must have been some no name shit.

I’m sure there are a lot of variables that contributed to it. There’s almost no way any commercially available bug spray that dangerous would have ever hit the market in our lifetimes. Maybe back before the nanny state government shit started in the early 20th century.

Leave this playing on a loop.

Additionally, leave a condem covered zucchi, duct tape, a curling iron, some 550 cord a shovel laying on your table along with a bunch of missing persons photos taped to your wall.

Alarm system and a German Shepherd do it for me. My German Shepherd will let me know if anything comes near my house. Any window or door opens up my alarm system will let me know.

I’ll call the police and they’re only a minute away but I think it’s silly to not have a gun in America. I’ll have my tactical shotgun ready just in case.

Was waiting the whole thread for this. Freddie is always on alert and hates violence, even when I am the one committing it. The dog gives you that first alert out here, when the car is rolling up my driveway. He HAS to be at the door to see who's who. Pretty chill dude with my visitors but if you were unwelcome he's not who you want to get cross with. 75lbs of pure love......

Same here. We've got several dogs including a Pit mix and he's the sweetest dog God ever made...unless he thinks we're being threatened. Normally, he's super gentle. I've never seen him as happy as when our kids bring the grandkids over, especially when they're infants. He loves babies. On the other hand, any idiot who tries to break in to our house is dead because that dog will make sure they bleed out. Quick.

Now there's a guy I'd like to have a beer with!
Clint is awesome. I'd love to take one of his shotgun courses. It is, eh, prohibitively expensive. There are some really exceptional dudes around here though. I've been training with shotguns for decades now.

I'm not sure if we touched on this, but I'd like to point out that anyone who thinks buying a shotgun and setting it in the corner by your bed is going to make you safe better think again. You're going to need to train with that thing or when the shit hits the fan you'll be stepping all over your dick trying to remember how to manipulate it and thinking just pointing it in the general direction of the bad guy and pulling the trigger will save your ass.

Point one. Racking a shotgun is not an effective deterrent.

Point two. You still have to aim a shotgun. The spread at in your house distances is a lot smaller than you think it is.

Point three. Birdshot is not an effective self defense load.

Point four. The ammo on and in the gun is all the ammo you are going to have to fight with so prepare and act accordingly.

Ignore this at your own peril.

I got a big ass thing of pepper spray. Well it's not that big, but maybe like 1/4 the size of mosquito repellant, but much bigger than the purse carry size.
It's about 5 years old. 2 years ago I was curious if it still worked, to a little, and I mean "Little" toot into the toilet upstairs. "Yep, still works."

Went downstairs and about 5 minutes later wife is like "WTF" and we were all gagging. Opened the windows, but the cats in the basement and left for 2 hours, LOL.
Shit is strong as fuck eh? I can't imagine getting sprayed in the face.

I have a huge rambo knife as well. I also have a security system and cameras outside my house, some are mock cameras with a blinking LED. So I think there's enough deterrent, save for some tweaker to come by. I have night lock door guards on all entrance doors also.

So besides all that, what else do you psychopaths recommend? Dog is out of the equation also. I don't have the bandwidth to walk a dog. Wish I could have a shotgun, but I got bad PTSD and sometimes with loud sudden noises, my behavior can be unpredictable and that scares me.
Of course I live in MA, so if someone breaks into my home, anything short of offering them Waffles at 3am will end up with me in Jail.
Look into some of the modern air guns. Nice and quiet, available in 30cal , 50 cal. And full auto as well. There isn’t much that levels the playing field when criminals are armed. Firearm or air gun are about it. Unless you train regularly with gas, and are accustomed to getting a face full, bad idea to use against an armed attacker in a confined space. A knife is only good if you know how to use it, and also have the element of surprise on and armed attacker, but the same is true of a firearm. Firearm just gives you the ability to attack from a distance, provided you are aware of the attack. The best defense against being invaded in your own home, is to prevent the invasion in the first place. As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to home security, you don’t have enough unless a SWAT team has to call you and asked if you will please open up so they can serve a warrant.
