I was looking for a distortion pedal and, after hearing this, I decided on the London Bones. Problem is, I can't find one. None of the music stores within driving distance from me carry them. It sucks living in the middle of a cornfield and having to web shop for everything. Regardless, for a minimal setup, it sounds pretty friggin' awesome...

have you heard the Hollywood bones I would like to hear the Hollywood bones compared to the London bones. I imagine they will be close. I heard the Hollywood bones is just a modded Marshall tone ala Soldano or even saggy like a dual recto. Not certain this is just what I gathered reading about the pedals.

so if you put delay/reverb between the bones london and eh 44 magnum that's "kinda" like having delay/reverb in a loop?

So Nick, you guys selling these pieces of the new Travel rig down at your store ? I was just thinking imagine a pedal board, but the whole rig is on it.
The stuff you demo'd,
and the things we all like all on one board.

From Plexi Plus to EH 44 Magnum!!!

Will be great to see the reaction! :D

You wrote it wrong! It's PlexiPlus all in one word!!

Yeah ... there would certainly be some surprised faces !!

I actually tried the London Bones into the PlexiPlus and it smoked!!

stick an EP boost before the magnum 44 :D

honestly that rig would slay with a nova delay for lead work and some chorus for cleans - screw carrying a guitar head and rack effects, rig is all solid state and on a pedalboard

I did a You Tube search and listened to clips of all of the Bones pedals - I preferred the London. It just sounded angrier and fuller to me...

Still hoping you'll make those clean clips, i'm very interested!!

edit: Nevermind, saw you added another one. Not too bad, the distortion does sound much better, but I could for sure live with one of these as a backup rig.

I landed up trying the 44 out with an Anologue Man modified TS9 and a 4x12 greenback cab. No eq was necessary. Sounded great also! A little more vintage sounding but great. Then I brought it to play out and sadly there wasn't enough volume to keep up with a medium hitting drummer. So........ good for rehearsals and such but not enough power for me to play out. The radial and the 44 magnum go back to the store tomorrow.

yea but i know you like to play loud as hell!!  ahem ! wizard booth @ ny amp show....lol

I tried the EHX 44 with a Boss EQ at a store by me that has a bunch of pedals. For distortion i tried a Suhr Riot, a Tonefreak Severe, a Wampler Pinnacle, and a Wampler Plextortion. I really didn't like any of the distortion pedals, they actually all lacked the gain for saturated leads like what Nick is getting in his video. They didn't have any Radial pedals in stock. But i could tell that the EHX sounded like a really decent amp, clean though. But damm if it didn't sound good on it's own like a clean amp.

agreed, its all about gain staging like i said, you need to use subtractive eq to get some of the ugly out which actually gives you a bit more clean headroom....the radial is the shit!

If you get a chance, try the EHX with POD HD. I just tried the EHX with a Johnson J station, shut off the cab sims, and it sounds pretty metal. :D PLus, the POD has effects, EQ, etc, so it'd probably sound pretty good.

Old thread but I just got one of these bad boys and noticed breakup starts a little earlier than I'd like. I'll try my BOSS eq tomorrow to see if i can dial out some of those mids because this would be a great jamming setup with some verb and delay. Even small gigs. No heads to worry about.

That's my current configuration (HD 500 -> 22 Caliber -> Diezel 212 FL V30) waiting for my last funds for my Hagen, it rocks, it can be pretty loud, I couldn't test its limits as I tested it only in my flat but you can get a jamming volume quite easily with enough headroom with good speakers.

This setup is gound to remain as my B rig (without the cab :D ).

Hey guys, anyone tried this with a really high powered speaker? Does it still tend to break up at the 9-10 pm mark? Ideally I'd think you'd want this to not breakup that much for a wet/dry because you'll get more thickness on delay repeats etc.. no?

I am very impressed. The clips from EHX when the 22 and 44 first came out sounded bad to me, but you make it sound fantastic!
