I didn't think anyone in the US even knew who Big Wreck was, awesome

I just assumed that they never got big in the States because they were Canadian (well, I know Thornley is at least). There are a whole bunch of bands who are huge here in Canada but never seem to hit the same level south of the border (The Tragically Hip, Matthew Good Band, etc).
Their first album is still my fav, "Blown Wide Open" has some great bass work in it. The thing that's most irritating for me is that Thornley can rip, but he never seems to do it on record, only at the live shows! His solo stuff is great because it's heavier, but I found the songs to be more similar and predictable.
Kroeger has never produced any of Thornley's stuff to my knowledge...they're just on Kroeger's record label (I'm pretty sure, but not 100%). Looking forward to the new album!
