Oh man you guys have some great bands and we Americans arent so ignorant of the talent you guy have and Im not talking about Nipplecrack I mean Nickleback

I've liked a few bands in past..... for example The Tea Party are awsome!

That's good to hear! It's just the impression I get most of the time, because I don't see a lot of the bands that I like in the US press at all and I swear the first names people outside the country (US or otherwise) mention are Celine Dion or Nickelback when the subject of Canadian music comes up...it's so frustrating!!   We've already apologized numerous times for subjecting the world to both

I could go on, but I don't want to hijack the thread any further! Just happy to see Big Wreck getting some props from the forum!

I didn't think anyone in the US even knew who Big Wreck was, awesome :) I just assumed that they never got big in the States because they were Canadian (well, I know Thornley is at least). There are a whole bunch of bands who are huge here in Canada but never seem to hit the same level south of the border (The Tragically Hip, Matthew Good Band, etc).

Their first album is still my fav, "Blown Wide Open" has some great bass work in it. The thing that's most irritating for me is that Thornley can rip, but he never seems to do it on record, only at the live shows! His solo stuff is great because it's heavier, but I found the songs to be more similar and predictable.

Kroeger has never produced any of Thornley's stuff to my knowledge...they're just on Kroeger's record label (I'm pretty sure, but not 100%). Looking forward to the new album!

I like all of them, but think "just to know i can" is one to check out.
It's one of my favorites too. One of the only songs I can actually sing and play at the same time. I 'd have to say I like his work with BW better though.

BTW Picklesack covers Mistake by Big Wreck...........What a MISTAKE!!! Listen to the two and it's obvious where the talent is.

Cool! Thanks for those. Sounds like the new stuff might be a bit of a combo of Thornley and BW. A heavier, less complex BW? God, I really hope it does get released in Feb. I'm tired of hearing rumors and pushed back dates.

The Tea Party was great too. I saw them play with Stabbing Westward years ago on tour for their 1st(?) album, Transmission(great CD).

Forty Foot Echo is pretty good too, although I think they transplanted from Canada to L.A. Peter Thorn(who plays with Chris Cornell now) was on their 1st release. He's a total gear head too...Komet, /13, Suhr, Top hat, CAA, Axe-FX, Port City....
He hangs on TGP alot and does killer youtube demos: https://www.youtube.com/user/sinasl1

The Tea Party's first album was Splendor Solis. That CD owns. Check it out. Probably the best Canadian release of the 90's.

Do you know of anywhere that I hear some of the songs? I'll have to order it or get it off the bay.
