Here's my question: "why are there so few cures for disease created by pharmaceutical companies vs expensive, life-long maintenance medicines?"

Always follow the money; it always leads to the truth.

They used elite-funded medical orgs to demonize holistic practices, threaten doctor's licenses who used natural cures, deride dissenters as quacks, and sell people petroleum based "remedies" instead. You can't advertise smokes on tv but after a decade of just say no to drugs we've entered my Ozempic era and all I hear about is how Harold has metastatic prostate cancer and to talk to my doctor if I experience swelling between my anus and genitals.

Moving this to Health.

Good one Brother RSM.

Well, if even AI can see this with its biases, then that tells you something.

Not to say pharma hasn't produced some wonderful drugs in the past -- sure. But, the whole medical system today is not the same as when I was born in 1980. It is based on just treating the symptoms rather than getting at the cause. It seems to me that if you really want to discover the root cause of your problem, you have to find a specialist in that specific area. When I was with Kaiser, they seemed to have specialists that were no more useful than their primary doctors. I've had much better results with independent specialists although it has been more expensive.

Unfortunately about 90% of real health problems are self induced.
Poor diet, drug and alcohol abuse, sedentary lifestyle, and poor lifestyle choices and just bad luck… car accidents, exposure, murder or assault…etc. Co-Morbidity due to genetics isn’t usually the downfall but doesn’t improve anything either. Lots of things just don’t have cures… like smoking. In addition humans have inborn behavior that causes us to seek out things the get inebriated on.

listening to the potential side effects of most medicines usually sounds worse than whatever the medicine is designed to treat.

no cures, just maintenance meds to keep you alive and paying for meds for the rest of your life.
