What I dont get is the seeming disdain and out right dismissal of majority of the music of the 90's as complete angst riden crap. Im mean to each his own but everytime a thread comes up about the 90's or band from that era there is the inevitable 90's alternative sucked comment. Ok I get it you dont like and the 80's are over. Lets move on. So it may not be your cup of tea but to say there wasnt some great songs written by bands other than STP in 90's makes me really go.....

You need to keep watching Hear N' Aid over and over to fully understand.

I like some SP stuff. Today, Cherub Rock, Bullet w/Bfly wings etc... His voice is annoying, but, waddaya gonna do? I hate some of the stuff too. Whatever. I never cared if he could shred, I like catchy rock songs as much as anyone.

I think there was a TON of great stuff from the 90's. In general, the songwriting was much better than all the cheese shit from the 80's, although the guitar playing was superior in the 80's.

STP, AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Live, Big Wreck, just a few great 90's bands. Corgan is still a douche though

I do not like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden is not far behind

But what if Pearl Jam put fans on stage to blow their hair back so they get the wind tunnel affect? Or how about if they puckered up their lips and wore bad clothes and played green guitars and played songs that sound like munchkin martians invading?

Seriously though, i really liked Pearl Jams first 2 albums. Those 2 albums sounded a lot like 70's rock which i liked.

Trixter deserved to go back to bussing tables.

But Lynch Mob and Skid Row, and T-Ride totally got porked in the transition. A shame.

You have no idea how much i hated Trixter. A girl i was seeing in 1990 dragged me out to every Trixter show since they were from Northern NJ. They completely sucked I think a few of them are now in a local cover band.

I would agree. There was also some material on Vitalogy that was damn cool. There was a live show from Atlanta at the end of the vs. tour where they played a couple Vitalogy songs that were better than the versions that ended up on the album.

As to the pumpkins - Billy is too busy playing "my shit don't stink" rockstar to realize that he's lost touch. The early pumpkins stuff was cool, but then he just got way too far into electronic drums and whiny vox...

Truthfully Billy Corgan is one of my biggest early influences. I loved Siamese Dream. He wrote and played most of the guitars and bass for that album. He is a competent guitarist, but I absolutely despise his voice. I was a fan up until Mellon Collie but he lost me after that.

Zwan was terrible and this new incarnation of "The Smashing Pumpkins" simply falls short. He should have released Zeitgeist as a solo effort. It's all about the $$$$$$$$$$ now. I don't blame him though. Get your money dude 'cuz your time is running out.

Oh and yes he is a big asshole. You'd have to be though to get any results out of Smackhead-Jimmy and those 2 kids. Or James Iha and Crackhead-D'arcy for that matter.
