Billy Duffy Les Paul tone - Ceremony era Cult

i totally dig his playing , especially his lead work on the electric album. If u think about it, he must have been a fish out of water as far as his tone and playing style etc compared to what was really big an popular at that time. Gotta have some respect for him for doing his own thing instead of trying to rip off evh or the like. And who is harry kolbe and does he still do mods? and what does he do to the amp circuit in a nutshell in his mods, and tone , other known users of his stuff??
 
I'm assuming the pre-amp must've basicly been gutted on the 2210.
I used to have one of those, it was cool, but was a 1-trick pony.

Been listening to Live Cult recently from the 91 tour, Billy was on fire and his tone is killer, always been a favorite live album of mine.

Check this, somebody has synced up the live album with bootleg footage, cool shit. I know Ian and Billy hate Ceremony, but Ive always loved it

Oops. I didn't even see that thread. I was down for the count for a few days this week with a nasty flu. Probably didn't even log on that day.

Yes, I have been ogling his sig model. :thumbsup: 2013 could be the year of the Falcon.....again! :lol: :LOL:
 
Wow that Live Cult album sounds fantastic - so beefy much riffs! Love his tone, it's massive especially on Ceremony, only just getting into this album.
 
LOVE Duffy's playing! I can see his Marshall from that era being a 2210. I had a 2205 back then, and I used to do alot of Cult that sounded pretty close.
 
So one of my friends knows Billy Duffy and recently sold one of his guitars and amps (a matchless, I believe). I had the opportunity to not only get my hands on it to deliver it to the customer but I was able to get a clip of Mark playing Billy's guitar while I was down in LA. So here you guys go: :thumbsup:



FYI normally we are not fans of Gibson's nowadays due to poor QC even for the custom shop but there was something magical about Billy's 06 custom shop SG in this clip and Mark really liked it. Normally he's a big pro-ponent of the 150 dollar parts guitar. :lol: :LOL:
