Remember when he said there were too many people doing the same mods and everyone was charging too much for an amp?


Now he is doing the same type of modded amps and he is somehow charging 3k for something that looks trashy as fuck. Has anyone seen gut shots beyond that first disaster he never should have even sold and shipped?

What gives? Does anyone else see the hypocrisy from this fool?

Ha ha....this has been hashed before, and I gladly participated in bashing him in the past. This all blew up a few years back, when blades was on other forums trying to learn about circuits first and then got a hold of a few amps and reverse engineered a couple Cameron's. Then after copying a Cameron circuit or two he offered mods on eBay. They were wired like shit, and he had some bad feedback. Then he produced his own amps, and that rats nest pic was one that he did himself. Then he got smart and started having them wired by others. But the reason he gets flamed by me and many others is the way he bashed any other Modders of repute...Friedman, Fortin and others...for no reason. He even claimed to channel Jose Arredondos ghost for Christ's sake. He always claimed to have been ripped off by Cameron. Who knows. But if you google Billy Blades the threads on the Metro forum, gear page and here on RT should pop up. Hilarious shit.

Oh I don't know if anyone is buying his amps, I'm sure anyone who knows his history won't. But there's always someone out there who hears clips, and maybe buys one. They do sound good, after all he cloned a Cameron so it should. But I won't, unless one comes up used for cheap. I mean under 1K maybe. Because you'll never sell. Good luck to guys who try. He is a hypocrite for sure. Like I said, I don't think anyone who has read his postings or knows the history of the guy is gonna buy one.

You know, he's stuck with it and good for him. If only he had come across in a different way maybe he'd be huge...maybe as more time passes, and if he throws out a genuine apology to people that he's ripped on for no reason..Fortin, Friedman etc...maybe he can mend some fences. But most if not all of us will stay away. If I had 3k for a new amp I'd give the JP2C or Henning amps a whirl! Never a Blades.

His rants about how boutique amps cost too much money were legendary. Glad to see he (or his financial adviser) finally woke up and realized that he had a failing business model. Pretty sure he nailed the coffin shut on his amp business before the first one rolled off his tattoo bench/assembly line though.

You know, certain topics have always been of high value for certain reasons.
For example, any EVH, Yngwie, Blades, Cameron threads, always have high post counts and for good reason.

As far as the Blades thing is concerned, there are lots of people who have admitted liking the tone out of it.

Cosmetics and quality seem to fall short as per the general consensus, but tonally, it seems decent.

Everyone is throwing eggs, but the same people cant wait to hear the next new thing on it.

I personally dont care, just find it interesting that it has this fascination that follows it.

NOW.. you want to get into a real good topic on amps.. go grab an EVH 5153 50, plug straight in and wail away. Best bang for your $

Not as good as an evh bang though. My evh 5153 50 gets wet just at the right time. No lube needed on it. Slides right in.

I see you have an agile 3010? I had one for the last 3 years, just sold it to fund a 84 Kramer reissue.
Mine was the honey sunburst, they reference jimmy page on their site. Looked pretty cool.

Thats really my only gripe, no biggie.

The agile held its own, jammed out with it many times, never an issue. I replaced the PU's when I got it and never had a problem.
People bashed them all over, to me, it easily rivals some other dare I say gibsons..

Easily as good as many LP standards I've played. And 300 bucks. I'm a strat guy, the custom I have is my uncles old one, my brothers and I each use it from time to time. That Agile isn't an LP but is a helluva nice guitar for the money. Pickups are really nice PAF style. I might take the plunge on another 5153 50 but this time I will send it to Jens Kruse for his Stealth mod. My last one was very unimpressive, sterile. No matter what tubes I used.
