Damn, that story sucks but thanks for sharing that bit of knowledge Drew.

Hey Danyeo, that vid you posted I can hear where some of your lines come from

You lost that Blue Murder jam track tune you did right??? That clip smoked!!!!!

That's just trajic. Coverdale and Geffen....what a slew of douche bags! Sykes has ten times the songwriting talent than Coverdale....hell, I think that he's even a better singer as well.

Sykes ripped it up with Blue Murder. I loved his guitar work paired up with Tony Franklin on his fretless bass. Great stuff!!!!

I really dug this stuff and the lineup. I wish John would've kept this project going. Wasnt a big fan of late 80's metal, but this was an exception. John's a talented mofo for sure.

What can i say... Pure inpiration. Totally underrated guitar player.

Being there seems to be quite a few knowledgable Sykes fans around here, has anyone ever heard anything from the album that Sykes did with Ray Gillen? I heard it was done, but never released. Maybe some tracks got leaked out? Anyone care to shed any light on this? Seems that would be quite a powerhouse pair.

I have not actually. The only Boots that I have heard were of the Blue Murder Demo's with John Singing but I never heard any stuff with Ray on it.

I did hear the stories that John was looking at Ray to be the singer of Blue Murder but Bob Rock convinced John to sing because he got so used to hearing Johns Voice over the tracks. With that said, I don't think any of the Gillen stuff leaked, or if it did, Ive never heard it!

I'm Sure Drew can comment on that

Man, That would be a trip hearing Ray over the Blue Murder stuff although I think John did an amazing job with the vocals. How the hell he could sing and play some of that stuff at the same time is mind numbing lol :D

+1 Killer in both aspects!

Sykes is the man. Been wearing-out the original Blue Murder disc since it came out. Great tone, great playing, great writing.

In fact, I just picked-up the new Whitesnake last week, expecting pretty good things since Aldrich and Beach are on guitars there. So far... I find it very ho-hum. It's cool that it sounds like good, old 80's Whitesnake. BUT... the songwriting is totally lackluster. There is no "Slow & Easy", "Slide It In", "Still of the Night", "Cryin in the Rain", "Is This Love", "Here I Go Again", etc on there. Not even close. And though Beach and Aldrich sound tight and have great chops... Sykes' playing/tone sounds BIGGER in my opinion.

For more of Sykes get on YouTube and check out all the cool old tunes he did with Phil Lynott out there. Some very tasty stuff.

I saw John Play and sing Billy Live and I was like how the hell can he play that Rhythm and sing at the same time :D

I mean outside of him having a killer voice, which he does, Playing and singing at the same time takes work!

All the best!

I had a cat that I named Billy because of that tune. He was 18 when he died (like 5 years ago). Wow... I'm gettin' OLD... :/

ATTN SYKES FANS: Screaming Blue Murder has some of his best tones throughout the whole album, I Highly recommend it if you don't have it.

The CD has been out of print for a long time, but the downloads were added recently.

NICE! Downloading it now. Listened to the samples. Especially digging his version of "Still of the Night" (better than Coverdale doing without John IMO) and "Please Don't Leave Me". He even sounds a bit like Lynott when he sings that stuff. Thanks for the link and making my day!

There was a bootleg of Ray singing with Blue Murder. I used to have it, may still do, but if I remember correctly the quality was so craptastic, it really wasn't worth having.

You could tell it was Ray and Blue Murder and that it would have been cool, but not worth listening to more than once.
