Bluguitar Iridium and Mercury models

I got a great deal on both of these at a pawn shop the other day. I think I like the Mercury a little better but both are cool. Is anyone else into these?
 
I have the mercury edition. It's a great amp IMO and it is very easy to dial in. Sounds great with any of my 4x12 cabs. If you haven't yet, I recommend that you hook it up to a 2 button footswitch with a TRS cable and use one of the alternate switching modes so you can access all 4-channel. You will lose the ability to footswitch the reverb, but you can use outboard FX with it with add a better reverb anyways.
 
I've had both, still have the Mercury. They kind of meet in the middle sonically, but I find the Mercury the more versatile of the two boxes. (That said, it depends on your style a bit.)

If you get the "Midi1" adapter then you can use MIDI to change a bunch of other parameters that are handy.
 
A friend of mine loaned me the Mercury a while back and had it at the band studio for 2 weeks...

Sounded great. Definitely sold on buying one.
 
Blug is still working on the Amp X, it's been delayed more than a few times, which will have both Mercury, Iridium, effects and more...if he ever releases it.

I've almost purchased an Amp 1, want one but really don't need one.

That's the reason why I am holding off of buying the Mercury. I want to hear the AmpX and see it's functionality. Otherwise it's the Mercury paired up with my Fractal FX8 through midi and 4-Cable-Method.

I bought the Mercury to bring on tour as a backup for my Marshall 2204 and to use for fly in dates when the chances of a good backline are slim. It sounds great but you can definitely tell its a class D amp. There’s no muscle behind the notes. It’s also too gainy but if you lower the preamp gain the bright cap will rip your head off. I EQ it very differently from any real Marshall Ive owned or used. I’ve been lucky to have a backline cabinet every time I’ve used it live so never had to go direct with it. Hopefully I never will.
 
I am probably going to sell both of these. I really like them, but unfortunately don't have a use for them. I had a credit at the Pawn shop which is the main reason I got them. I think they both sound damn good, but I'm pretty comfortable gigging with my JEL20 or my Helix.
 
I have had both and still have the Iridium. The Mercury is probably more my speed, but someone offered to buy it and the Iridium is still really good so I sold it. Have not played it in a while. Should probably get that thing back out!

They're extremely light and easy to carry and sound really good. It would never be my main amp but I'm never getting rid of it either. I can't think of a better backup solution.
 
I have the mercury and like it, used it with outboard gear and used an external 2 button switch to make it all 4 channels. It sounded good and has now been a dedicated power amp for my FM9

Thanks, @SDMF38 & @GuitarBilly - I was initially leaning toward the Mercury b/c I'm not much a metal player and I play hot-rodded single channel marshalls, using mid-gain and volume knob for dirty clean, then boosting for hard rock chuggs ala AIC. BUT, I heard/read some reviews that the Mercury is a bit 'tubby'.

Can the Merucy do good Kravitz to GNR rock, hard rock tones all the way to AIC, Black album Metallica with a boost? ...I read the MErcury Modern channel and clean is not so great.
 
That’s how I used it a lot was a single channel and volume on guitar, for clean. The eq is very active and has to be dialed in subtly or can get tubby. I used an sd1 and a ts9 for boosts and it covered a lot of the same ground you’re looking to be in.
 
I added myself to the waitlist for Amp X months ago. I couldn't wait any longer, so I grabbed a Kemper Stage a couple of weeks back. I am really happy with it (I owned a toaster for 7 years). I'm sure I will check out the Amp X when it finally releases. Blug makes great gear and it takes time to get it right for its initial release.
