A term for idiots who have never played a Bogner and who don't understand the voicing or how to EQ an amp. Discuss.

It's usually the best for the rest of us that the Bogner players don't know their tone doesn't cut in a mix.

No such thing as Bogner blanket.. lol :D
I had an XTC Classic for years and I never thought it was dark.

Like what you like, explain how you explain but is it any different than folks who spend way more time describing tone than playing and fucking listening to it? Terms like open, airy, rich, organic, lush, woody etc etc lol

I have a 101B ans Bogner 4x12 w V30's. I I guess I sort of can get the blanket statement a bit as it is a slightly darker voice but its not like you brighten it if you wan to.

it is only because people set amps with eyes and not ears. dime a control pussies.

When I had my 101B I noticed the blanket you guys are referring to. I found that adding the right amount of Gain really brightened it up. Sometimes I had to rinse and repeat though. :D

Haha, all valid points and this was a slightly troll-worthy thread, but I just found it amusing because my XTC 20th isn't dark at all. Ok, it's not as bright as a Marshall but then what is?

This + 10000!

I sold my XTC 101B to fund the CCV that I never got, but I never thought it sounded like it had a blanket on it. Now could it have had more upper mids and aggressive. Yes, but isn't that what the 20th Anny is for?

This idiot owned 3 101b's, from the 90's till a few years ago. I was always able to dial in something I liked, but diming the Treble or Presence wasn't the answer to get a more cutting tone. That just added unwanted sizzle. Best was with the Excurtion switch on tight, IMO

This isn't rocket science. Turn it on, turn it up and CHANGE the eq to your liking!! I just grabbed an SLO and last weekend, through G12 65s my presence was maxed, treble off mids 6 bass 8 and it was GREAT. Last night, used an EVH cab with the greenies and had to add treble to that same eq as it is a darker cab than the old Marshall. Turning knobs really isn't difficult lol..

Great promotional item. I'll take one in Salt N Pepper

Bogners have to be dialed with your ears, not your eyes.

Wondering, which control magically takes the "tarp over the speaker" effect away. The Treble? beyond 3:00 way too much sizzle, not cut, sizzle. Same with the Presence. Another question is, why do so many people bitch about it? People who are playing decades and know how to dial in an amp, are suddenly asshole because they can't get anything from the amp? These assholes are "dialing with their eyes"? Really?

You heard the Helios vids. Tell me, how do you get a 101b to sound like that?
