and there's nothing wrong with that. You can see what Bogner is shooting for with this amp. Old Marshall, his take on it. Too bad the Plexi ch in the Ecstasy didn't sound like this. I like it

Oh, I'm in total agreement with carlygtr. I don't play with a ton of gain/saturation. I was hoping for a vintage gainer, and from what I'm hearing in the clip, Bogner has delivered.

Last I remembered some of these guys listed in Bogners description of the amp don't exactly play with what I consider Vintage Gain. If the Helios per Bogner is what is below then I am  by your comments. Modified Marshall Tones. If you think the amp is his take on a Vintage Marshall you must be way off base. If you listen to the talking in the video you will hear the player comment about there being no sag in the Plexi channel. No sag does not equate with "Vintage"

After countless requests Reinhold Bogner revisited his vast amount of detailed notes that go back in time from three decades of archiving, modifying and designing amplifiers. Through this treasure of documents lives the aural mojo of clients such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Jerry Cantrell, George Lynch, Michael Landau + others.
With this past knowledge HELIOS delivers Rock's deepest roots with 40 years of iconic and modified Marshall tones.

I'm pretty sure the 'sag' reference was when Prashant was playing clean. FME a clean Plexi has no sag. It's fast and articulate.

I know earlier Plexis had low filtering. Not sure why the clean tone would be tight as opposed to a Plexi breaking up if the filtering is lower. I know there are other factors that can affect an amp's sag but it's mostly filtering.

My guess would be that in this specific case he was comparing the "clean" of the Helios to the clean on the Goldfinger or Shiva, which I find to be quite saggy/looser

Otoh, if he was referring to the XTC clean, I don't find that saggy at all!!

But I totally get where you are coming from.

 Its hard to really tell much from the clips. I do not hear the signature Bogner mids. I am not sure where Reinhold was trying to go with this head. As I posted it was a good marketing move. Whether the amp will get rave reviews remains to be seen once guys like Steve K gets it in his hands for comparison. I know Steve owned some early modded Bogner Marshalls.

No sag in old Superleads either. Try to hang your hat on one word (vintage)  It's a Marshall type, I can hear it. No need to be a rocket scientist to hear as much. I go by my ears, not but what some guy on some video is yacking about. Pretty cheap trying to take shots based on a simple word description

I've never owned a Marshall Super Lead with a 'sag' response... JTM45, yes. I consider 'modern' to be a more scooped mid, less open, with tighter bass thing. I know the Helios clip isn't very revealing, but I'm hearing a mod'd Marshall 2204 inspired circuit.

Sort-of like this...

What's the cab specs and the speakers in that last clip?

Any idea? :D

Rappaport is such a beast.

Finally someone that did that amp some justice.

That sounds really fat in that vid... kinda reminds me of a Marshall Jubilee 2555... they were slightly darker and fatter than standard 800's and plexi's
