The amp sounds very good but when I heard him on the BE 100 it was even better.

This is why tone is subjective, I think the Bogner just sounds bigger and has something a little extra. I think the BE sounds great, but this amp sounds perfect to my ears based on clips which never do an amp justice. Can hardly wait to hear and play one of these in person.
I've just recently come to realize this... And it's been under my fingers all along.

I heard in one of the videos that $2850 for the 100 watt and $2550 for the 50 watt are retail prices and that street prices will be lower.

That would indeed be good news, but I don't think it's accurate. If Reinhold quoted Brad those prices and Brad posted them up, I think that's what you will be seeing as the retail sale prices.

My fingers are crossed though.......the 50 watt would be a nice addition to the stable. :D

Won't be "street pricing" till there's a mess of these out and about within the general buying and selling public's hands. If there's a 10 week ETA on the orders going in right now, there's no real movement on "retail" price. Give it 6 months and then start watching for things to level off within the resale community.

Peace

When he was playing the BE he had a giant grin.

Need to import one of these beasts over to the UK. Dread to think what the price will be over here.

Thanks for that. Cheaper to import. I will find one with a UK transformer. Always do. LOL.

Man, when he played "Light up the sky", it was sick!

Another vid of the Helios floating around youtubeland:

Dynamics seem pretty awesome.

Guy is a good player. Amp sounds killer with the Tele.

I like this! Is this Greg V? Don't get me wrong, Doug tears it up on the Bogner vid. But, another player doing his thing is just as important. Using his fingers like that on the tele....nice!

Can someone explain to me why there is so much buzz about this amp? I'm not being antagonistic but curious what I'm failing to perceive.

Yes it sounds great but nothing new compared to current or prior Marshall-flavored Bogner Goldfinger or Duende, Friedman, Marshall YJM, Metropolous master volume, Suhr SL68, Bray, Landry, PWE, etc.

Stop making sense, this is the interwebz and everything new is overhyped. Please continue overhyping people.

There is always hype around a new amp. I can tell you personally I have been waiting for Bogner to release a head like this for years. With that said there are many amps that do the modded Marshall thing and the BE is one of the strongest contenders out there. However there is something cool about finally seeing the design that started Reinholds career.

We are guitar players without GAS or the interest in new things we might as well play the violin

Many men have been waiting many moons for Bogner to release an amp that has his lower mids but with more Marshall upper mid bite. Something more like his old Marshall mods. This amp is seemingly just that. Add to it the fact that it is handwired, and the WIN score increases exponentially.

The amps you quote, such as the Suhr, Landry, PWE have enjoyed their own tremendous levels of hype online. In fact, no "modded Marshall" style amps have been hyped online more than the Friedmans. I guess my question back to you is: why should the Friedmans, Suhrs, Landrys and PWEs get more hype online than a similar product from Bogner, which is a bigger name brand to begin with?

Thanks Jim...you took the words right off of my keyboard. The tone in the clips was good but nothing that I haven't heard many times over. From the comments, you'd think "hot-rodded Marshall tone" was something new and different.

Because they've all been doing it for many years now, perhaps?
Sorry, but this brings absolutely nothing new to the tone party that I can see/hear...just another brand name applied to an old concept (a good one no doubt, but an old one nonetheless).
