What do you mean by rolled off high then if you say your’s also has more bite than Recto’s? In a few months I’ll probably try my uber, recto and other amps in a mix when reamping a friend’s song. I’d think by being less scooped and more cutting highs it should on paper cut a bit better than my Recto’s, but I guess I’ll find out. I find it’s hard to predict these things until trying it. The Recto’s did sit really well actually in the mix when we last tried them in his reamps

They’re just not very cutting amps by nature. It’s not about high end - it’s the body of the tone. With the presence like that it will be laid back quite a bit

Believe me I hate laid back or distant tone and don’t find mine to be like that. If anything when AB’ed found my Rev C and ‘90’s Recto Reissue to sound more laid back and distant in the background/less upfront. I haven’t tried one in a mix like you, so I can’t say anything from personal experience, but this is why I’d think it should cut through better than my Recto’s (which I dial in presence dimed and treble above noon btw). Again, maybe it’s just variation in different Rev 1 Uber’s, I’m not sure (my other Rev 1 Uber was darker and rounder) but a lot of things I hear about how guys describe their Rev 1 or 2 Uber’s is not what I get with mine. And of course one could pump the mids knob and push presence and get it to stick out more but that’s a tone that’s not really for me. But here’s the thing - they blend so well with something like a marshall. That’s where the fun is. They add beef and aggression in a very pleasing way. They just don’t have the body to make a guitar sound the way I like in the context of a band

I’d have to try it in a mix context and see. It’s always hard for me to predict how amps translate there until trying it out in that context. And yeah I hate the way it sounds with the mids or presence turned up. I also use this amp for metal, generally more modern leaning styles, which may also play a role in how it works for me in a mix context. I wouldn’t choose it for most rock styles myself over other amps I have. I find it really shines especially for more melodic, European styles of metal
