What is everyone running their gain at on a Rev Green or Blue for a saturated metal sound? Lets say Metallica-ish. What pickups are you using or any settings suggestions? Thanks!
I just traded mu Uber rev Blue for a JJ Jr. but I was running it as follows:
Gain noon--->1 o'clock
Prescence 10--->noon
Mids 11--->1 o'clock--->3 o'clock
treble 9--->10 o'clock
....and smacking it with an OD just to tighten it up.
Some of the early Rev Green's had on/off type off gain taper around 9-10 o'clock, but as state above noon-1 o'clock is pretty much the norm for a good metal saturated gain. Start with everything at 1 o'clock, except volume knobs obviously and go from there.
Mahogany guitar with EMG 85 in the bridge for standard tuning and a Mesa Traditional 4x12 cab is the ticket for me with Ubers.
The current iteration of the Rev Blue has gobs of saturation/gain even with fairly low settings. I run the gain on mine around 9:00 - 11:00 then clean boost with something most of the time.
Channel volume 11 o’clock
Presence: 10-11 o’clock
Treble: 11 o’clock
Mids: 11 o’clock
Bass: between 11 and 2 o’clock (depends on how I set the pedals)
Gain: 2 o’clock.
I also use a weird setting:
Presence 10 o’clock
Treble off
Mids: 10-11 o’clock... wherever it sounds good
Base off
Gain 2 o’clock

The presence knob is everything, and quite misleading by name. I may suggest “neutral” eq settings, start with the presence knob to find your global tone shape, then adjust the treb/mid/low accordingly. Tune with ears for sure with this amp. For black album ish scooped tones, I usually had my presence between off and 10 o’clock.
