Do you find that anytime you adjust the volume up or down you also have to adjust the gain , treble and presence when using the Red channel? When going from regular at home volume up to louder volume like 10 or 11:00 i have to tweak the amp differently. Not something i had to really do with my FJA5150 or my Marshall VM.

and so it begins... beginning of the end! Move it along

That was my experience when I had mine!!!

I guess this is part of learning how an amp behaves and how to tweak it at various volumes

Yep, it is still a great amp though!!!

20thA takes a lil' tweaking, but no big. I find it sounds better and better the louder it gets, with less reliance on the blue and red gain dial to get it to sustain and saturate.

I had the same experience with an early 101b but my Mark IV is the same.

I am a set and forget type guy, everything at 12:00. The only comment I can make is that I sometimes crank the gain on my 100B at low levels at home, if I could be bothered leaning over that is. :)

Yea I find myself close to diming the presence/treble controls at lower volume.

When cranking the amp definitely need to turn back these a bit.

Yes, When I first got my Classic I was disapointed in the Red channel. The shared EQ with the Blue doesnt work well for me. Also, I noticed the Red channel opened up and brightened up when turning up the master while the Blue channel stayed pretty much the same.

I really like the plexi mode A LOT!!! So my solution was to use the Red channel in Plexi mode, and the Blue channel as my lead channel.

By themselves these two sounds are very harmonically rich, and 3D like. Something I thought the Red channel lacked.

So, I use the Plexi mode as a lower gain crunch and rhythm sound, Blue channel for medium gain rhythm. I hit the Plexi mode with an EP Boost for a punchy med gain rhythm, stack that with the mid gain on a Koko boost and I get an amazingly, clear, articulate, thick lead tone with tons of sustain.
Hit the Blue channel with the Mid side of the Koko and it's 80's metal heaven!!! Playing solos with this sound has just the right amount of smear, and chewyness that this amp is famous for.

All by itself the Red can work great but for me I'm switching channels all night and needed them to work better together so the Red went away and I love the Plexi mode...

Honestly I find this to be true with any amp. No matter what amp I play I adjust a little depending on volume. On my 5153 at pretty low volumes I may run a touch more gain and definitely up the presence and resonance some. When I get back up loud I back those off and decrease the gain.

At volume I prefer the T excursion and the controls closer to 12 o'clock. But, adjusting the EQ for different volume levels is something I've had to do with any amp.

Yeah i guess i'm simply learning the amp. Once set right it is righteous!
