Bogner XTC101B favorite settings? Cab suggestions?

The 101b takes some time to learn. They are most known for their incredibly warm and thick lead tones but man does that amp offer a lot in the low to mid gain dept. the plexi mode with a fuzz and a strat is some of the best live tones I’ve ever had. I like the Bogner OS 2x12. V30 and a cream 65 is a good combo

Since I last replied, I got myself another Ecstasy; a 97 101b that absolutely smokes! Absolute one of my favorite amps of all time with many ways to dial it in. Currently running it with a Bogner 4x12 with greenback.

I was also curious and tried diming the plexi channel with a reactive load (Fryette PS) and was pretty impressed!

Update to the cab situation as well: Bought a Mesa MarkIIC+ reissue and a Mesa Recto 1x12 cab to go with it so no Bogner cabs yet. I am currently building a rack for a stereo setup so most likely a 2nd Recto 1x12 will be added after Friedman IR load becomes available during Q4 this Year.

Per your cited post re: cleans - cliche’ but I’ve come to learn there’s just no substitute for volume on the clean channel to get what you describe (ie: clean w/very little breakup). Guitar vol’s your friend & the xtc’s really sensitive to pick attack so digging-in works too. Plus, there’s the boost. Dime ch1 volume and use gain for room vol.

As for cabs - I have 2 matching cabs. St cab w/CL-80’s is fantastic with the clean channel and it’s smoother sounding overall than my slant. Especially when using lots of gain. Punches harder at volume.

My slant has 2V30’s (bott) & 2 Em governors (top) - I love this cab the most b/c it brings the mids and bass is solid. All my speakers are well broken in and the V30’s especially didn’t sound as good when they weren’t. I’m not in a band and don’t often use effects so take that into consideration. Either cab will tear your head off if that’s what you want. If I had one (minor) complaint it would be that the cabs are seriously directional. I haven’t pulled the stuffing out of either so I don’t know if that would help.
