Everyone seems to talk about the blue channel more, on any of the Ecstasy heads but I’ve got to say, I’m loving the red channel of my 3534. I’ve done a quick clip of it here, with the gain at about 9 o’clock. It’s just so thick and chewy!! Please excuse the shoddy playing and general dicking about...

On a side note, is anyone else going through a “sticker” phase on their guitars? I must be turning back into a teenager!

Yup I love the red channel too. Just fun to play on. Blue channel for more classic rock stuff. Great amp.....

Have you tried the mod?
On my list, might pull the chassis out this weekend and go for it. Re: the work, its not a big deal, I did it repeatedly with my old 20th Shiva for the bias mod, snip a leg and bend it out of the way. Its reversible in a minute. Honestly I don't really want to mess with this amp right now, its working perfect for me. Allegedly the mod will open up the channel a bit, reports of less compression blah blah blah. My go to drive sound is Blue channel w boost engaged and gain at noon.

I read that same guy’s opinion on TGP but I’d like to hear more from others that have tried it.

Thick and chewy can be nasally and muddy if its used with heavier/metal sound. I have similar feeling about red channel of early 101B. I still don't get for what sound is 3rd channel designed to. Lead is better on boosted blue and with Xtc overall voicing is heavier sound always bloathed and undefined.. Gimme clean Shiva channel, crunch Blue and Red Helios 80's mode on red a we have perfect amp :)

I’m with you on liking the red channel. The blue is great and offers a wide range of tones, but the red channel is where I live. I run the gain at 1 with the boost on, but that’s probably just because I’m running it at such low volume in the house. Are you running the excursion on loose? Hard to tell from the video. I normally stick with the tight, but would really like a setting in between tight and loose that had a snappy response and bigger low end.

I’ve found that the red channel can really nail the “Somewhere in Time” and “7th Son” era Maiden tones. There’s a certain polished quality those albums had in the guitar tones that the 3534 seems to hit (at least IMO). Otherwise I agree that it certainly has its own voicing and character that takes some figuring out. That uniqueness make it cool though because it offers something different.

I’ve got the excursion switch set to tight but with the bass up at noon. That and the bright switch on B2 really make the red channel as aggressive as I would ever need!

I run both the blue and red channels on L which is kind of surprising to me considering I usually like a tight bottom. It seems to have the perfect amount of sag for me in that position for both lead and rhythm

I‘ve figured out some stuff with this amp that I wanted to share here. Previously, I was running the red channel on bright 2 and the blue channel on bright 1 to try to get it more aggressive sounding, but it always felt like there was something missing. Then I started using the normal setting for both channels and turning the treble all the way up. The sound got bigger and meaner with more bottom end chunk to it. I think the different bright settings rob the amp of its girth. I’m using the presence to dial in the highs and it sounds so much meaner. I keep the excursion on loose unless I’m playing my 7 string or something really low tuned, which I’ll switch over to tight to keep it sounding more clear.

As for speakers, I really like how it sounds through my Mesa 2x12 with v30s. That being said, I recently picked up a creamback 65 and put it into a 1x12 cab. I think it is the perfect speaker for the bogner. The creamback adds a more lively high end than the v30s and has a slight scoop which sounds great with the bright switch in the normal position. Now my curiosity is peaked as to giving the matching oversized 1x12 ported bogner cab a try. It’s just so expensive though.....

Warms the room nicely!
Lol. I dig it. Clips sound great and it's not helping my GAS. I used to have a 101B but sold it because it was just overkill for home use. Still have my OS2X12 though. Thinking a 3534 would look nice on top of it.

Red channel is cool, my gain set about 10 o'clock, it's a lot of gain. I too dig blue with boost (and without).

Is the blue channel + boost enough gain for leads? Or would you still need some extra juice in front of the amp?
Is it also like the EVH, where blue is more allround and red is really OTT gained out?

The blue channel with or without the boost is good for leads. It’s probably the most effortless lead amp (on any channel) I’ve ever played. I haven’t played the evh, but I would say your take on the channels is correct. Blue covers a huge range of tones and red is pretty much all high gain. I guess you could try to run the gain really low in the red channel, but I’m just not that guy.
