Bonamassa pretty much owns Zakk Wylde here.

Yeah but the real question here is who would win in a "Indian Hog tied death wrestle match"?
I but Bonamassa would take him. One leap off the top ropes and ZW is toast.

Not possible. Zakk has too many defenses to that attack.
Lift an armpit,,,JB is down mid air.
Last minute dodge with a stance adjustment. JB does a collarbone on the mat. Or gets a nasty scrape on some bottle tops on the ol' Les Paul.
and last and possibly most deadly…..Parts his beard to reveal…Chuck Norris's beard which then parts and a massive fist caves in JB's sternum.

its all fun and games until someone throws a "foreign object" in the ring (Bottle of Jack Daniels) where Zakk chugs it down then breaks it over JB head. 1...........2..........3........ for the pin.

Zakk does not seem to evolve his playing much, inclusive of that wah over compressed stuff. He needs to get back to playing a bit cleaner, or go play in Slayer like bands. His look is getting pretty tired too. Nobody really gives a shit if you look like an 80's rocker any longer.

I don't know which was more awkward, sounding out of key in spots, continuing to solo after JB started singing again, or the overall lack of taste...

Zakk Wylde is a fuckwit, there I said it!

Yeah. It needed to be said.

I wonder if Joe is going to get his .357 Customs guitar now?

Anybody who thought that were really going to buy a $100 toy and get a free $800 guitar deserved to lose their money...and probably shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.

True, but the bad part is that whole scam was from Zakk's own fan club site. Anyhoo, he sounds as bad in this clip as he did when I saw him in 2003, with Ozzy.

I love the Ozzy and Pride & Glory era, but have lost interest on later Zakks work.
JB is really and amazing playing and worked, still works, really hard to be considered the best of the best. However, I just can't stand his shredding on classic rock or blues songs. Warren Haynes, Doyle Bramhall II are more like what I like to hear playing classic rock. Besides, even dripping talent on every gig he plays, I just can't identify JB personality on his playing. He can manage so sound alike a thousand players.
Zakk, on the other hand, even playing shitty on this video, just need a pinched harmonic to be identified.

At one point he was a student of the guitar and played all kinds of stuff. More than most rock players.

I, for one, absolutely loved how he was so fierce and attacked the guitar. For me, there were only a few that had that kind of fierceness, Stevie Ray Vaughan being another.

I used to be a huge Zakk fan especially on NMT, Ozzmosis, Pride and Glory and Book of Shadows. His playing now is so uninspiring. Joe definitely owned Zakk here and owns him period.

Damn, this thread is still going?

JB is an accomplished player with great straight forward technique that doesn't require gobs of gain. I like that about the guy. But Zakk in his prime had something to say. There's a few iconic Ozzy tunes from the Zakk Wylde era. I don't know of any JB iconic tunes, although I'm sure in that circle there are.

I've always loved this tune. Fairly standard Zakk licks, but at the time was bad assed. The chicken pickin' shit is pretty smoking even by today's standards.

It is a shame that I feel Zakk fell into a rut of just doing the same stuff over and over and not pushing the envelope like he did back in the day. I suppose a lot of guys fall into that rut. It makes them a comfortable living, but that desire to keep themselves pushing forward is lost.

I don't know what chicken pickin' skills JB has, but my impression is if the band had been playing some country ass backing, we'd be having a different discussion.

So what does that mean? Who's the betterer guitar player? Who owns who? OMG, my head might explode without a clearerer answer!!!!

Last time Zack sold out Royal Albert Hall? His only claim to fame was as an Ozzy band member. IMO Brad Gillis and Jake did much better in that regard.

Posting Zakk tunes is proving what? He got up and jammed and Joe gaped him good.

20+ years of hits vs stopgap fillin temps

Enjoy your Joe "victory", but it seems a bit dysfunctionally competitive to view it that way
