I’ve spent way too much money on pickup parts and not only am I a cheap ass, I’m broke and in the doghouse. I needed a somewhat portable recording setup so that I can have various people help wiling getting some pickup demos in different genres. I’m wasn’t really looking or studio and professionally mixed demos, more so raw and unprocessed without mix. Instead of an SM57, that I originally wanted, I took a risk and bought a budget mic based on some demoed, clips and some feedback from people I trust. I will comment later on the mic, but it’s an SM57 clone. As for a pre, I went with an iRig Pre 2. All in all I have $120 invested in the mic, preen, cable, stand, and misc adapter. All recording, either straight audio or video can be done through the phone. The software and mic placement is kicking my butt a little bit, but I’m sure it’ll get easier
