Was it a reissue? All of the reissues had the Cesar Diaz (SRV)mod, which is a different beast and not it a good way IMHO. I don’t know why fender hasn’t release a RI of the Vibroverb with the standard blackface circuit

What don’t you like about the Diaz mods ? Most of them are to juice the gain a little bit here and a little bit there. Seems like a good plan.

The 64 Vibroverb Custom have a switch on the back to choose between the stock 64 Vibroverb circuit or the Cesar Diaz (SRV) mod. I have a vintage 64 Vibroverb in the studio and got the 64 Custom Vibroverb for the road, when set in stock mod, it's quite close to my vintage one... Actually much closer than any current 65 Black Face amps compared the vintage one. I think the 64 Vibroverb Custom is the closest they ever came to the magic sound of any of their Black Face, but that's my humble opinion.

And personally, I feel the Diaz Mod is quite amazing as well, still prefer the stock mode, but the Mod can come handy if you want a bit more drive.

As for the person talking about Nuno, that's the wrong amp. Nuno was using a 63 Brownface Vibroverb, those are transition amps and were much closer to Tweed amps, compared to BlackFace, and they distorted much soon and fatter. The 63 reissue got it wrong in many way (specially the lack of Tube rectifier)
