What albums were recorded using mark 1 ? I know Santana and Greatful Dead but anything more rocking ? I’m ignorant on mark 1

I’m pretty sure Keef from the Stones used them exclusively up until the late 80’s so anything you hear through those years was a MKI

I do remember seeing him with those now that you say it

Fr ? That’s awesome. Did they mix it with a rectifier too ? I’ve heard that as well

I think they did mix a Mark I and Recto, yeah. Not sure which parts are one, the other, or both, or what ratio though.

I had a late ‘70’s Mark 1 HRG for a while. Sounded very good, but imo not as well suited for what I think you mean by “more rocking”. I actually felt the 1960 Fender Tweed Deluxe I had at the time with boost was kind of like a better, more organic sounding version of that sound. The late ‘70’s Dumble I tried was like a 50x better version of that sound, but also 50x the price lol

Mark 1 I’ve never had it played . And now a 7 . I went through the rest just no mark 1 for some reason

That's a very weird combination, a Mark I is not a metal tone, or even a really rockin tone at all. If I were them I'd mix a IIC+ or IV with a recto for the Mark VII mode.

I always read it was a loop modded 2b.

I had a loop modded IIB and it was one of the best amps I've owned...kick myself for letting it go. I never played a IIC+, but assume it was very very very close. The touch sensitivity was insane and it was the widest wrecking ball frequency range of any amp I've had. Would do extremely open high gain with articulation that rivals anything out there or wonderfully compressed high gain with the same clarity.
