I wonder if any of the tube screamers would work ? I know that my keeley modded sd-1 is okay but even that is more than the Wizard needs. I tell ya this. the Wizard mc-100 just as it is. in otherwords the way Rik at Wizard intended it to be when he built it only needs a transparent/clean push to carry it into a level that us guys that have or do own camerons can be happy with. The Wizard is THAT CLOSE. I may not have mine modded at all. Plus with the boost in a pedal form you already got the lead boost you can engage and I am not sure the new gain mod will be foot switchable. If not that will limit you to a choice of either way. I want it all. I want both dammit!   My zak wylde over drive works killer with the gain almost off and the level at noon and the tone at just before noon.
I tried my MC with a Keeley Modded TS-808 and the MC didn't like it at all. I gotta pick up a BB.
I use the Bloddy Murder. I keep trying different pedals and keep coming back to the BM. I have an Analogman SD-1 with Silver Frog mod for sale.

I have been looking for the BB preamp. I got two stores that carry them and they are both sold out. Gotta score one of the BB preamp pedals.

The best boost I've tried so far is the Fulltone - Full Drive 2 Mosfet.

I don't know if I'd go w/ the BB if your amp is getting you close to the goods. I own a shit load of od's, including the BB and a couple of boosts. If you just need a slight boost the RC booster or better yet the Lynch Time Machine Boost would work great. I haven't tried the EP Boost, but it is on my radar.

Now if I could only bring one of my pedals to put in front of the Wizard I would go w/ the Barber Direct Drive. Probably my cheapest od pedal, but has the goods, doesn't have the mid hump and gets along w/ every amp I've put it in front of. Lots of pedals just sitting in the drawer while the BDD gets the most use. I've never tried a Tim or Timmy, but they come highly recommended.

I've heard great things about the new Suhr Koko Boost. Steve Stevens was using one in front of his Friedman Marsha for a lot of his solos at the Tone Merchants show and it sounded very transparent. Seemed to add volume and sustain with no noticeable change in the overall tone.

I tried a bunch of different boost pedals to use with my Wizard and the one I settled on was the RC Booster. It doesn't effect your tone it just gives you a bit more of it.

I talked to multiple places today about the xotic pedals. I even talked to Brad at Tonefactor to see if he had a Tim or Timmy pedal stuck back.  So I got a few opinions and they all ran about the same. most said that if I was running the Wizard mc-100 and it needed a clean boost to push it without any coloration at all. then the RC boost was the way to go. One or two guys said yeah get the bb preamp pedal but most said get the rc boost. :dunno: I am hard headed so I still have to think about this.

Exotic EP Booster. Can't go wrong here......

Steve
You have one and tried it with the Wizard?

Yep, works great on the unboosted lead and rhythm channels. Not needed on the unswitchable but pulled lead boost. Mesa Hollywood has them in stock. Pop over and pick one up or demo if you are close. It wont change your tone except for a little on the treble in. As a matter of fact, it behaves a little like a treble boost and just fattens things up a bit and throws a little extra meat to it. There are two dip switches inside that you can set it up for a little more top or a little more bottom/mid.

Steve

 Thanks for the info guys. I am gonna make a move soon. Busy boxing and shipping gear I got sold and after that in a day or two I will have the time to go fetch.

I'm using the Timmy and Tim and EP. All for different flavors. I did run it with my Wizard as well. Like the Timmy and Tim the best. but the EP has it uses. I found the EP added a lot of body, but cut the high end with the SLO. Dave Friedman, who put the rack the together felt the same way. But that is good sometimes.
