Boosted Recto vs modded Recto.

Wow that Rhodes modded recto sounds insane!!! , just what you want outta of an amp in the low end section tight as hell without having to use a damn OD in front of it, but still big and powerful and nice clean too

+1 on the rhodes modded recto! Mines the first one i liked without a boost. Maybe the first amp i dont use a boost on. Ill try and post a vid of it with the zoom this week. Really a sick sounding amp! Having said that my old dual orange cloned to modern was seriously heavy..

i loved my roadster when i had it, i was thinking about buying another one because i kind of miss it. I think everyone should have a recto in an amp collection. nothing beats it if you know how to dial it in good.

try messing around with different preamp tubes in it first before you have it modded. tung sol gold pins in the V1 really made it thicker and alot more bold sounding. you also see more aggression out of the amp when you bypass the loop.

I was never a fan of boosting any amp but i understand why people do it with rectos. I know people hate EMG's but i like them and use them in all my guitars. EMG loaded guitars through a recto is a perfect combo. Rectos are prob the best amps to pair up with EMG's since they keep the low end tight and take that flubbyness out of the amp.

I haven't played a modded one, but my '92 Recto on the Orange Hi Gain channel with an EP Booster in front is just awesome.

I've heard some fantastic modded and boosted Recto's, sometimes with both combined.

Knowing me if I had mine modded I would still boost it just because I love the boosted feel.

  you didn't think I would actually be happy with a recto that didn't sound killer with a boost did you? That was one of my requirements when I asked about the mod, I can't deal with the amps that already feel boosted these days. I want control over what I boost with, how much I am boosting, and when I'm boosting. I told him to just make ch3 more punchy and juicy, less brash and more fun to play. With that crappy description, he ended up somehow nailing the mark, lol.

I hear ya man......I only play my Modded Recto (with boost sometimes :D ) on the Red channel. Just rips.
If I want to get more a rock tone....I just turn off the boost and dial back the gain to about 2. Sounds like a heavy modded Marshall. I did the A/B test with the most killer Modded Marshall I owned (and had a ton of them!) and I could get the same tone from the Mesa lead channel with the gain barely cracked. Did a Blind test with some buds and they couldnt tell the difference between the 2. But once I cracked the gain on the FJA recto....it crushed the Marshall.
Like having 2 amps in one. Great rock....Super ripping high gain. Making me smile for the past few years.
