Think I'm getting the hang of WOS III now somewhat...

So I cranked the Triple Rectifier Reborn to 11:00 on the master to get the power section into the tone, and ran the Loadbox output into the computer and applied the WOS III plugin.

I used the Rectifier 4x12 cabinet in WOS III. :)

The volume in the room was TV level, I boosted the front end with a Fulltone OCD.

Sounds pretty good! I like to use the XTC cab with my rec with either/both the 421 and the re20. Huge lows/low mids and super cutting top end.

Ok so this time it was the WOSIII plugin doing the cab sims correct?

Thanks, I'll have to look for that cab. Not sure if it's included in the default list, might have to download it separately. :)

Yep, made a go of it this time. Used the Rectifier 4x12 with 121 mic.

I'll have to give it another shot with the 2204 now. :)

I haven't had much luck with the 121 for high gain tones, but this sounds really good dude. What was your mic placement? And did you use the plugin's eq?

Wagner always makes the 121 work ! My only experience with it is in the impulses. Found a few positions i like in Redwire and using those over the sm57 when jamming with my 2204 clone going through a hotplate.

Would be great to hear what you can do with the sm57 setting and your 2204 next!

Killer

That's pretty much what my Triple Rec sounds like.

I find it hard to use anything else these days. Even the JTM45.

The Mesa is so ballsy, thick and slicing it's tough to describe. You turn the volume up on your guitar and before you even hit a note you know something is about to happen.

Dig that a lot! Glad to know you're getting such great results with this stuff.

Thanks for the responses!

I had the 121 right up on the grill in the plugin.

And Michael Wagner was the reason I wanted to experiment with that mic.

Problem is now I want a real 121 mic

Sounded great man! Getting the hang of that thing it sounds like. So do you need to run the output to a computer to hear a monitor, or can it run a pass thru for a cab?

Hey Eric thanks. :)

You can have the cab hooked up at the same time with how I was running it.

Very cool. So as I'm understanding it, to use this for a silent monitor, I would need to run into a comp, and then use WOS for cab IR's right? With a cab connected, are you getting the attenuated sound, or a direct pass thru?

Should be getting the attenuated sound. At least I do from my RockCrusher. Virtually silent. I use my cab for reference while tracking. This keeps CPU usage down as I am not running the plug-in. Sounds better than what is coming through my studio monitors.

OP may be doing something entirely different though.

This Recto clip sounds MASSIVE by the way. I have not been super successful with WoS but am getting great results with my Splawn and ReCabinet 3. May have to revisit WoS.

I just ran through a couple demos of recabinet. The interface looks like it is the cat's ass but the tones, is it my imagination or does it round off everything? Doesn't seem to have that much detail?

This is a very quick clip of my Quick Rod direct with ReCabinet 3. No real post processing. Some verb/delay on lead track

Not too shabby.. I might have to try it out and see how it fares.
