Sounds better at gig volumes actually.
It does, but it doesn't have as much of a bloom if you will like my favorite tube amps. But unlike other SS amps it does improve a bit with higher volumes. It really is impressive.

But I would still caution guys into thinking this will REPLACE your favorite high end tube amp..IMO it won't quite get there.

I Love hearing won't quite! I'm with Curt, if no one said what it was everyone would say it's a tube amp!

Viva la Katana!

Throw those old tube amps in the trash
This is the age of Katana

Lol just kidding but it is stupid how good it sounds & feels

I have one on the way also

I played a 112 combo for about an hour last weekend at the store. I was pretty amazed at the feel and natural chug it had. No weird thuddy low end at all like many modelers. Anxious to hear it into a real cab with some volume.

One with more gain. Tad brighter

Convinced me.

Thanks for posting clips man. Gonna try and get my Mark V sold and get one. I'm sure it's not quite the same, but I don't need a fucking Mark V anyway. This thing will be enough for me I'm sure.

Can the Katana combos be hooked up to a cab?

I don't believe so, at least not in stock form.

There's an easy way to do it. I posted it earlier in this thread.

Question for the owners here.
Can you store channels set to different volume levels?
For a practical live use I am wondering if you could have a channel for rhythm with a certain gain and volume level and a channel set with the same gain, but higher volume for lead volume boost. Or when you go between the 4 channels does it take on the volume knobs current setting? I am talking the channel volume, not master.

Uh oh.
I'm a little worried.

I mean, It's a cool amp and for 350, it's a no brainer to have. Closest tube feeling ss amp I've played, and I own one. I do enjoy playing it.
My Marshall and Mesa leave it in the dust though.

Let's not turn this into the new "Police" team on RT..ya know, first we had the EVH police, then the Friedman police...
Now we may have the Katana police.

It is a cool sounding amp with plenty of spank, options and portability...

Oh it is a very cool amp no doubt.
But as you mentioned my tube amps smoke it.
But damn If this isn't the best solid state amp I have heard or played by a landslide.

Smoke it ? Naw. Maybe an edge when you play it. Live no one will know. N no one will care. Recorded no one will know either if it was tube or Ss ... just being realistic.

But my new Mesa triple crown feels great. Nothing will ever beat real tube amps. It's like jerking off vs real sex. Jerking off you get the job done n it feels good, but nothing replaces the real feeling.

Food for thought today.

Wow. It's too bad everyone knows what you are using because I think if you had posted a clip saying "Check out my new $4k+ boutique amp" people might have been freaking at how good it sounds. Now there will be those saying, "yeah, it's pretty good but I can tell blah blah blah".

The amp sounds killer and more importantly, you sound killer through that amp!

Hahaha, that would have been fun! Thank you for the kind words bro! :)

Well shit! I was kind of on the fence about getting one, but after hearing this I just ordered mine/ Ordered the head version. Darn you R/T. I think this forum should get a little kick back from Boss. Including me, thats what, 3 or 4 people in this thread alone that bought one recently

Right on! Thanks for checking it out. I think it's a winner.

I agree. This SS amp is fantastic but I'll be hanging on to my tube stuff.

Awesome! Thanks for checking it out. Not sure I agree with ditching a Mark V but hey, If you don't really need it then cool.

My good friend Mark (Magh8) was hassling me last night about the little internal speaker. So I made him a little clip of it. He needs something small for around the house I guess, since his big amps are elsewhere. Out of spite I didn't change any settings. I was overdriving the shit out of that little guy.

If some time was spent dialing it could sound decent. :dunno:

Don't mean to take over the thread, just giving some examples of stuff. :aww:

Gotta search YT for this amp w/ a stock Strat or Tele.

Thru the years SS amps have accounted for getting some great tones. Ernie Isley and Frank Marino used Acoustic SS amps as a clean platform for their sounds.

Well put!!

This Amp is 350. Comparing to a 100 watt tube amp shouldn't really be the trend of this Amp. Marketing or mentioning it in conversation with a boutique or vintage tube amp isn't the point of this Amp. Glowing glass is in a class by itself and always should be. This is about technology and the reality of how good it's become. This Amp is fun simple and sounds good. Nothing boutique about it nor is there meant to be. If someone thinks it sounds as good as a hardwired turret board el34 beast to their ears it just may. The reality is it ain't one. Doesn't sound like one, isn't supposed to. If it were it'd be heavier and a good bit louder.headromm...etc. it's a modeller, that's a mention worth comparing. Convenient and boutique have entirely different meanings

So I was playing in two bands last year and kind of went nuts buying guitars and amps as I needed different things for each band. I admittedly went way overboard though. Time to pay the piper and liquidate a few things. This amp has me contemplating selling my Splawn QR that has been relegated to back up duties and just having a Katana head as the backup and something to doink around with at home.
Just struggling with the idea of not have a QR around to take for a spin now and again.
