Greetings ...
I'm new to this forum ... I have purchased a TAE and I'm finally getting around to ordering my Mojotone ISO Cab. But, prior to flipping the coin their way, I'd like to ask a few questions to the pro's on this forum ... But first, the intended rig I'm putting together;

I'm actually doing the reverse of what these things were intended to do (to some degree). Most folks run a 50-100 watt head into the TAE and from the TAE to their speaker cab and adjust the volume for the tone they've acquired from cranking the snot out of their large amps.

I'm going to be running my (cranked-to-the-sweet-spot) 57' Custom Champ into the TAE for the Layla album tone ... what my intention is, is to amplify that tone and sound, once acquired form the 57' Champ, through the TAE. Nothing like a 100 watt Champ!

Now, here's the gist of this post ... I'm wanting to know what is the MINIMUM wattage of speaker (it's a dual 12" ISO cab) do I need to accommodate the 100 watts of SOLID STATE amp juice coming out of the TAE. I'm somewhat confused to the correlation of SOLID STATE WATTS VS. TUBE AMP WATTS for choosing a speaker wattage ... if it were a cab just for a Tube Amp, I get it, and understand what needs to be done.

I'm not asking to get my tone (I've got the knowledge for that) ... just what size (wattage) of speaker do I need. Would a couple of AVATAR 50's (I like buying American and British products) work perfectly or am I going to need more wattage rating on the speakers ... I'll choose the recommendations provided here, based upon what I want for a speaker pushing the air. Just the wattage recommendation would very, very cool guys and gals.

Thanks for your time and everybody stay healthy

I don't really have a direct answer to your question, except... is it too late to return the TAE?

It sounds like a Fryette Power Station may be more suited to your use case.

Tube Amp Expander is awesome ... Thanks, not looking for gear advice, just the Solid State wattage question. I’ve contacted Avatar and their response was this;

it would handle it as long as you don't turn the solid state amp up too much past halfway on the master volume. All solid state amps begin to become strained and distort around halfway or more and then that is what heats up speaker's voice coils and if done long enough, can get a gradual heat build up and damage speakers. As long as you don't do that , they'll work fine.

Therefore, now I’m looking at 2 Weber Alnico Legacy 100 watt speakers wired in parallel. That should do the trick.

I’ve been doing this for over 50 years and have always been an anti solid state amp guy .... tubes only! However, attenuating the 57’ Champ is so cool and sounds so awesome, as does my Edge Deluxe, I am sold on the TAE along with it’s Solid State amp for the output to the cab.

I recently got a TAE and you’re right. It’s awesome!

Love the TAE! It is a centrepiece for all I do live and for recording. I have a JP-2C and a Mark V 25 that i run through it depending upon the gig and space I need.

I would say that you are a ok with a couple of 50W speakers in there. I run my TAE into my Mesa 212 and the V30s are 60W at piece. I also have a mini-recto angled cab that I use as well. I’m a bit more careful with that one as it is only 1 speaker. For the 212, I have it running over half way many times when playing live and it is more than enough with a full band. Such an amazing sounding unit!

Perfect ... that’s the info I was for! Thanks so much for your time spent writing this input! Greatly appreciated.
